tell me about your 1190

It's to help with cold starting- remap and fit the starter from the 1290. Mine was struggling to start in the early cold mornings so the dealer did the mod a couple of weeks ago

Premier fitted this update to my bike just before Christmas, makes a big difference to the turnover speed, no lethargic chug anymore.

Just out of interest, have you found any difference in how the bike runs/performs with the new map? I read one post on AdvRider where the guy reckoned the engine was smoother low/mid range and pulled better at low revs in high gears......

That's pretty much how the dealer described the new map update. I think it is a tad smoother in the low/mid range, or do I just think such because I was told so before I actually rode it after the map update was applied? ;)

Fitted some stickers to it .... :P

Oh .... and this one ... :rolleyes:

No, not really. It definitely starts better, but I put that down to having a beefier start motor. You still need 3-4000rpm, same as before, but I always found it quite smooth anyway

i took the plastic *sump guard* off my bike this afternoon so i could make sure there was no corrosion or paint hanging off in this unseen area. there wasn't, but i was shocked to see that KTM had put anti seize on the very exposed fixing bolts. this is the first time i can recall ever seeing such a thing by a manufacturer :)

I've had similar concerns after noting that all the stuff that my dealer would have put together prior to delivery had had copper slip/electrical grease applied. Not something I've seen before on any new bike I've owned.

Shody work if you ask me and not what I've come to expect after owning a MBW....................

Bought the "Puig" touring screen with deflector from someone on the site and despite being 6' 4" I find myself in clean air, it is not a pretty screen but it is effective. :thumby:

The one on the left ...?? ;

You're right, that's not a pretty screen :D

I'm tempted with the MRA touring screen ;

I went to Leicester and back yesterday, 6 hours on the M20 / M25 / M1 in attrocious weather :D So yes, for touring holidays, (Rosy and I are going back to Corsica end of the summer ..) I'll definitely put something on for that trip. (I got in yesterday, and I was bolloxed from the noise and the buffeting ..).

:thumb2

I rode from Florence to Menton last summer in one hit and even with quality plugs bedded deep into my ears a quality helmet and the tallest KTM screen fitted I found my ears ringing for hours. I have yet to venture far with this set-up but just riding locally in clean air is a novelty I am enjoying.

Sleek, black and sexy.........

Big clear and ugly..........

I'm no fan of screens as it's all about aesthetics for me daaaaarling but I've a few motorway hauls coming up in the next couple of weeks so I thought I'd give this screen a punt and see if I can live with a big screen (for the winter at least). It was a good deal form a very nice young man on this site so I've nothing to loose :)

Andres

PS It really is fecking ugly though :D

Have you ridden with it yet ??

Nope, just fitted it this evening - on the bike to work tomorrow but that's all through town so no good for assessing the screen. I hope to get out for a good run on Sunday as long as the roads aren't too icey.

keen to hear what it's like.

i did a bit of motorway at the w/e and the buffeting was rattling my head at speed. i have the "touring screen" on it's lowest position and normally, it's ok, but i couldn't put up with that for 500 miles.

What I find strange is my HP2 has no screen and no buffeting, I know Davy found the low screen best and if the puig screen didn't work that was my next move as the screen is "clearly" the cause of the turbulence. (see what I did there) :D

I used to reguarly remove the screen (in the summer) on my GS for that very reason. I'm no lover of the things and the GS was my first ever bike (and the KTM my second) to have a screen of any sort.

I much prefer the low screen on the 'R' for the reasons you give (ie no buffeting, just constant wind pressure)......BUT............although there is no buffeting with it and it's fine 98% of the time, the thought of a high speed long day on a continetal M Way doesn't appeal hence looking at a 'big' screen.

I still think they look fecking ugly though..................

All this just to change a bulb :eek:

Defo not a 'side of the road' job :D

On a different subject, is anybody's 1190 using coolant? My expansion tank was just about empty and I've just bunged in approx 300ml to bring it back to the same level as 700 miles ago. I think I'll keep a bit more of a beady eye on it for a while.
