tell me about your 1190

I hope your not dissing my boyfriend .....

My 1190 is just as immaculate and I too would say that the KTM build quality is superior to their German neighbours.
I just hope that my new Africa Twin will stand up as well in a couple of years time.....;)

Bloody Hell Giles - you're a thorough bike cleaner!
Excellent job :thumb

Where do you get that wax stuff?

Errrrrr I think it was elite car care or something like that. I can look tomorrow, but off the net in a nut shell ....

Flippin eck, it looked ruined in your first pic, it has come up well, I can't quite bring myself to get mine that dirty, I have the 350EXC for that.

You've done your normal trick and ballsed up the video link (please sign in) :rob or does it only work on KTM computers :rob

i have started getting a bad wobble if i take my hands off the bars between 40 and 50 mph, so today i checked the head races - there was probably a 1/4 turn of slack, which i took up with the nut under the top triple clamp.

dunno if it's made any difference to the wobble as i've not tried it again yet. we'll see in due course. i think it's either that or the tyres. maybe just keep hold of the bars.

I did sense a note of surprise at the lack of corrosion!:P

No corrosion anywhere on my GSA.:thumb Mine has been ridden all through the winter on salty roads, and was even left to sit, covered in salt for three weeks, after I put my back out in January.

My bike has never seen any ACF50:pullface

That's the stuff I used over the winter (and from the same place). I was very impressed with it and a little goes a very long way. Also, all the road shit doesn't particularly stick to it so generally the bike looks a lot tidier than when covered in oil/ACF.
A bit of elbow grease is needed to get it off but well worth it. Also..............the degreaser stuff is brilliant. I always swore by Greentec but this stuff is defo better and goes a long way (I dilute it to 20%).

I'm very impressed so far with the finish of the bike, whilst I do look after it I'm not anal about it (it was never cleaned through the winter, just hosed down now and again) and the finish on the bike really is still 'as new' :)

Loose head bearings do seem to be a common theme (myself and Giles on here) and several comments on Advrider.

The good news is that having adjusted mine just the once (after I had the re-map done) they have not needed doing since.

I wonder if it might be the tyres, didn't you mention that the 'old style' Road Attacks had a tendency to weave when worn at the front? Which reminds me, I mentioned earlier that I was having to top up the pressures now and again (more than you'd normally expect); that seems to have settled down now and it's ages since I've had to put any air in either tyre :)

Anyway, I'm interested to see how you get on.

i noticed it a few weeks ago. topped up the tyre pressures and it went away.

i recently checked the pressures again and the wobble came back. maybe i didn't get the pressures right? i have a new inflator/gauge, and it's a bit awkward to get the fitting on the valve, which can make accuracy a problem. i need a bit more practice with that.

my tyres don't drop much. never set the TPS warning off anyway.

Only a few psi and you'll notice a difference in the bikes handling, but it needs to be significantly low to trigger the tps warning.
I'm not so anal that I check 'em every time I ride, but I would most definitely do it, say, weekly. It always amazes me that peepes mention dodgy handling and then come back a few days later and 'oh yeah ... My front tyre was down to 20psi ...'

(That's not a pop at you cookie :) just a general observation that basic bike handing problems are often nothing more complicated than incorrect tyre pressures and yet people don't check them .... :thumb2

Bandit ... I'll come back to you ... P&B powder coating sittingbourne I think but need to confirm that's what they're called ..

that is me though :D

rode my GSA to a service once after a storm. i put the, er, *loose* handling down to all the wet leaves strewn over the back roads i was riding reasonably briskly. dealer pointed out i had a puncture and 10psi in the rear :blast

That's terrible !!!! In off road mode on tkc's the bike feels 'orrible on the road, and that's with 25psi !
You should be ashamed !!! :)
