Did you just swap the rear header, or buy the side skirt kit as well, trying to figure out what al the costs are and which bits are worth the spend, the double skinned header looks like a no brainer as I would expect it to push a lot more heat out via the exhaust pipe, not so sure if the side skirts do much other than trap heat under the bike, maybe keeping some of the legs, but probably not helping the shock and still warming the seat.

New link pipe, insulated, but not a whole new header, plus side skirt thingies, plus some bits that funnel in cool air from the front

They're great :)

A mix of country roads and lit town roads early this morning showed a hooge difference in output.
If you ever replaced a halogen bulb with HID I'd say the increased output is similar, what's better IMO is the beam pattern is just as per a halogen bulb with none of the scatter you get from HID.

Fecking expensive though...................

Had the radiator heat deflector thingy (standard item on 2016 models) knocking around the garage for ages waiting for the next time I had the tank off to fit.

Servicing the DNA filter today so finally got round to fitting it :)

Held in place by 2 screw at the top (inside one a bugger to fit!) and clips onto a spacer you attach onto an engine mount at the bottom.

Will hopefully help further with heat management come the Summer along with the seat deflector kit and insulated rear manifold already fitted ;)





Parts needed:
60308056000 Air Deflector for Fan £1.68
60308056010 Retaining Sleeve £2.58
0035100509S M10x50 Bolt £3.72
0081050181 Screw For Plastic £0.66 - you need two.

I just bought the bit of plastic for £1.68 as I already had all the fixings I needed :D

That's a new one on me........... Looking at the pictures I'm trying to work out what it does. Does it prevent air from the rad passing between the tank and engine and ultimately onto your right leg i.e. it makes sure all the hot air is routed through the vent/gap in the tank?

Also, it looks like it blocks air flow over the oil cooler/heat sink thingy......does it?

Plan to get the deflectors and rear header pipe fitted at next service due end May, perfect timing for summer.

Hi Andres

Main thing I think it does is deflect the hot air away from the bike/your leg when the fan kicks in. Will also stop some heat from getting under the seat/tank area.

Yes it does block the heat sink thingy but as it's a KTM part I assume this is not an issue ;)

Will post a pick with the tank back on once my DNA filter has dried out and can refit it all :thumb
 
Not sure I really need it but ordered an aluminium HEED engine guard from Poland off Ebay that arrived yesterday :)





Finish and build quality look good and a nice easy fit direct onto the bike with no messing about :thumb2







Would not be my choice for serious off roading (which I do not do) as it mounts direct onto the engine rather the frame but still a big improvement over the standard bit of plastic. Also as the aluminium is fairly thin at 3mm it should hopefully absorb any impact rather than transferring it direct to the mounting points on the engine.

Now ready for the next trip to Tesco :augie

I'm thinking the most useful guard for me would be one that protects the side stand mounts.

I was thinking a more robust mount full stop would be nice as I watched a car reverse into my parked bike's off side earlier today.........I suspect that's why the side stand's a bit too long, to stop the bike leaning over onto it with all it's weight.

Dunno :D

For the 950s there's several options to save righting your engine off with one clout from a rock, I bought a conversion from a UK guy for around £50 and it's now solid and safe.
