tell me about your 1190

Dunno :D

For the 950s there's several options to save righting your engine off with one clout from a rock, I bought a conversion from a UK guy for around £50 and it's now solid and safe.

Well that was helpful, ta :P

It has got me thinking though............... I think I'll have a hunt around and see what's out there :thumb2

You're welcome :P

The one I went with was like this so now the new side stand bracket bolts to the frame, stand still remains the perfect length and I needed a spacer since it also picks up on the main stand mounts although I don't have one.

Ta :) That looks very much like the Black Dog one for the 990 - approx $50 - they seem to think 1190 owners have money to burn (see below)

Yeah just found that ta, only $200

Plus post, plus tax, it's a rip off..... mine was £50 including all fittings for the SE and post...... you don't want to be helping build the Trump Empire so buy something British :D

Having just bought some stuff from Cyclops I nearly cried at the p&p + tax! Guess we'll have that to look forward on European stuff post Brexit too............ ;)

Get your hands on just one to copy and I know someone who can make a load :beerjug:

Edit: Having said that it does look little bit more complicated than a straight forward cut plate (it bolts to the footpeg mount)...........

Melch ...
It's pretty noisy! It's not the noise per se, it's the popping and banging on the overrun ! It's not too bad once the bike has warmed up, but first thing when the bike is still cold it doesn't half pop and gurgle when I shut the gas ...

Giles,

Have you blanked off the SAS system? If not that will sort it out.

Tim, is there and alternative to the BDCW stand relocator? $200 is going to be over $300 shipped with taxes

going to dealer for service tomorrow, throttle cable will have to be fixed also:

I thought I'd drag this 1190 thread back again now I'm home after a couple of days of fun on my dated old hack of an 1190.

Firstly I've not convinced myself to either get rid or keep the 1190 so this is good because it keeps my savings intact :D

Things that are still good about the 1190 are easy to list:
The engine that still pulls like a train when you want it to.
The range when taking it easy is good with 250 miles between stops no big deal.
The handling is good on any road surface and the fact that the ABS allows the rider to brake mid corner without unsettling the bike if you need to allows for a degree of liberty taking that's fun when following a bike with similar ABS.
The brakes are still good for a bike with fairly soggy suspension though if they'd feel as good on something with firmer suspension I'm not so sure.

Bad things:
The factory supplied luggage fucks the handling big time. I wasn't going to use the top box this weekend but in the end I did and regretted it.
The fuel gauge range to empty is farcical.
The heat coming off the engine is a bit much in heavy traffic when you can't filter.
It's not got the 1290 engine.

I just use "Trip 1", I know it holds 23L and will do 9-10 miles per litre as an average over a tank with my kind of riding, I do not rely on getting every last drop before it starts to splutter (rather not rely on last 2 litres) so I assume I have at least 190 Miles after a fill up - and over 200 unless really pressing on for the entire tank.

I know that 200 miles is fairly easily achieved unless I'm misbehaving but it's so far out I disregard it until it goes below 50 miles remaining.
