Hi folks,

a couple of weeks ago my 07 1200GS started vibrating badly through the bars and there was a lack of power when using the throttle. It only lasted for about a minute before it seemed to clear itself.
Prior to this the bike had sat for about a week outside while the roads were too icy to ride. On that morning I had to use warm water to thaw out both the ignition and filler cap locks.

The bike has since run as smoothly as before but this morning (in almost the same stretch of road) the same thing happened: loss of response along with wildly vibrating bars. Again, within a minute or so, normal response had resumed.

Can anyone suggest where to start looking to root cause the issue?

Thanks

Cant help with the vibration, but my old gsa 36,000 miles used to do the loss of power thang, but i used redex to clear the carb and it worked a treat,

Could be leads or the plug caps. If it is only hard acceleration probably the secondary ones on the bottom. Not unheard of on 1200s.

i think i know what you mean i had the same thing when i first bought mine (is it under acceleration at higher speeds?) turned out to be a faulty o2 sensor and the coils going (the dealer tested the coils and came up as fine but apparently this happens when they are just starting to go?) when replaced, it was fine an still is

secondary coil.

Just played the coil game myself. Pull the coils and see if one has split open.

My left secondary has just popped so £88 going to BMW:blast
