Spotted last night when collecting my new rifle. Dealer has it and said needs it gone, was given to him by a German importer who had it and never sold it.

Might have start saving up again

Walther Colt 1911 .22lr. Lovely handling pistol however tolerances on slide and little bit loose.

What are the licensing issues in Ireland for a handgun ?

Can only get up to a .22lr. Need to be a mamber of a pistol shooting range. Then apply for license. Its not a restricted firearm, just need to have range membership to justify ownership

I've not handled one but I understand they are considered a pretty accurate 1911 rendition as far as style, handling, and weight, manufactured of zinc alloy and light aluminium for the slide that could be cycled by .22LR. Interesting that Walther made them I thought they were made by Umarex.

Umarex owns the Walther name, I believe it’s the same company

Correct, the were sold as Colt 1911 .22lr originally then Walter naming. But Umarex makes a lot of the replica .22lr pistols. They also make the Beretta M9 .22lr

While there are concerns over the Pot Metal used in them, from my looking the Umarex use a much higher grade compared to other companies.

Sold my Ruger Mkiii target at weekend and will go pay for the 1911 his week and do a license substitution

Now I want to take out my old Colt .22 which isn't been shot in ages......

Yes steel, it's a Woodsman made by Colt in 1970 and given by my father for my 17th birthday. I haven't handled it in a while so I just got it out.

Thats a beauty, was in dealer at weekend and he had same model. plus host other beautiful old pistols
Thanks John. Really at this point it's more sentimental to me than anything. That one along with 2 little Colt .25 pistols, one my father's the other his father's.

I don't believe I've seen a Model 72? Have seen some 86 and 87 Cheetahs around though.

Model 72 is just model 70 with a 2nd longer barrel for target shooting

Sadly law changed so all i can own is a .22lr pistol. if i was a dealer i could own anything i wanted

Wait a minute..... if the only pistols you can own are .22 but dealers can have anything, who do dealers sell all their pistols other than .22 to?

They keep them for own use. Kind of a loop holes that was stopped a year or so ago. but if any are surrender or found by Garda they give them to dealers and they can hold them. They have to be certain type of dealer.
