I like my old airheads but have been looking for something
else to try as a adventure tourer
I wanted something that was
Reliable...decent tank size...Looked like it would take a bit of abuse and would cover the rough stuff quicker than my GSPD but still be good on the road

A Tall order

This came along for a good price so i thought i would give it a go

First run out today
Seems to tick a few of the right boxes
I find it quick enough on the road and surprisingly smooth
for a single
You have to work the gearbox a fair bit more than the old airhead though
The brakes are a load better

Miss the cylinders when you can't get the stand down
But not in deep ruts

Not the lightest of bikes..But it felt remarkabley agile off road despite the crap road biased tyres
With something a bit more agressive i recon it will be fine
for what i want it for

All in all quite pleased with the bike...But time will tell

Probably the best thing Yamaha have brought out in recent years IMHO.

I've got a soft spot for the Tenere love the look of the new one

I owned one back in the 80's had so much fun on that bike

Me in Spain had two months off work and toured round Europe with my best mate
