Tesco Bags for Life - Locks on back order?

When I was at Cannons in Braintree last week the salesman told me they had been having a nightmare getting the panniers (guessing varios) and locks for the GS, He didn't think getting the alloy panniers for the GSA would be a problem because it had just come out.

I'm not holding my breath it will be any better after reading this. :blast

Then you'd also need to keep your ignition barrel, too.

Have fun taking it out, persuading the dealer to do the same on their bike and the putting the whole shooting match back together again.

:) amusing thought, but the only reason I mentioned it is that I know the barrels I have can be recoded, because they have been.

Extract them with the old key then change the innards to match the new key... I don't know how much this helps though as I don't know if its the same barrel on the new boxes...

There doesn't seem to a problem with the varios - mine had a problem and were replaced under warranty, they were in stock and my old locks were fitted in minutes - seems like a GSA problem only.

Sorry that made me chuckle :D

I'm sure your right and the salesman was just doing his pitch to get a sale or some dealers have better luck then others. I'll let you know in a month when I should get mine :D

I should have said "There does not appear to be a DELIVERY problem with the varios - mine had a TECHNICAL problem and were replaced under warranty, they were in stock and my old locks were fitted in minutes - seems like a GSA ISSUE only."

I'm sorry no offence intended I'm still getting use to this forum with the constant requirement for having to point out the obvious all the time,

I should have said " sorry this made me chuckle because I'm easily pleased, I'm sure your right about the delivery problems with the GSA the salesman was just doing his pitch to get a sale or some dealers have better luck then others. I'll let you know in a month when I get mine :D"

Don't worry Cosmic..................we understood exactly what you meant first time...................it's just that Peter Perfect likes to point out the obvious, for the sake of his clarity

Sense of humour failure, methinks

Carry on Cosmic, as you were:thumby:

Unfortunately the lock cylinders for the previous Adventure bags do not fit the new ones.

No offence taken - I was clarifying just in case, mainly for the older ones with little knowledge of the newer bikes (1150 owners) and generally less nous.

Why didn't they have a shed load of barrels made with the maximum size wafers in them, then they could put the owners key in them and grind off the excess at the dealer? A lot easier than making individual barrels up to a code.

Well, collected my Blue Beastie at the weekend :D:D:D, sans shopping bags:( The containers themselves are ready and waiting, but the locks you see......

Hasn't spoilt my enjoyment though, and the Akra exhaust is a delight :clap

I'm really looking forward to some enjoyable mileage with this machine :thumby:

I'm delighted for you, but what leverage have you got over your dealer to get the locks supplied pdq?

:nenau

Hi thanks, I'm hoping for this week, but they are not able to be more precise and as for leverage - very little. I suppose if I hadn't been so keen to get my mitts on the GSA I could have applied some pressure..... :nenau

Collected the tesco bags for life this morning along with the coded locks, so all is now good with the world and my trip to the shops can be much more productive :beerjug:
