TFT retro fit

Can't be done on any bike pre Sept 2018 I believe.

I did do a little research into it and it seems you will need new switches new wiring loom and the screen a pretty big job prob cheaper to change bike

If the bike came with certain options fitted dealer reckoned that the relevant sensors and wiring was present, needed the tft, a sub loom and programme codes plus labour..... Was told it would be well in excess of £1000 and doubt they would fit used

Yep and it seems it all boils down to if you have the correct wiring system X6ABA and if you can get a TFT as it says discontinued on realoem.com maybe they have the newer model coming out as I have heard, and it seems damn confusing as to what month and year the bikes have or have not the X6ABA wiring system going to have a look later to see if my motoscan app sees the wiring system or not.

they look good... but you can read the tft or the navigator on broad daylight no problem, having said that I bought it ;)

That is probably the same reason im thinking of getting one. Wonder if one of those tempered glass screens fit with the shade fitted ?

Having scratched the TFT on my last bike, I fitted a Speedo Angels Ultra Clear Tempered Glass protector on my new 1250GS (https://www.speedo-angels.com/product/bmw-connectivity-tempered-glass-dashboard-screen-protector/) - and hated it. It had a purple tinge to it and looked fairly crap.

I swapped it to the Anti-Glare version (https://www.speedo-angels.com/product/bmw-connectivity-tempered-glass-dashboard-screen-protector-anti-glare/) which is much better.

As the protector is actually a little smaller than the TFT I can't see any reason why it would not fit with the shade - although personally, I'm not convinced the shade is worthwhile - as the only time the TFT is hard to read is when the sun is behind you, which is exactly when a shade will be no use at all...
