Travelled 200 miles today in delightfully cold weather to part ex my GS for a k1300r. Whilst I was test riding the new bike the BMW dealer’s technician identified that my 16,000 mile bike has:
Jammed exhaust valve
Leaking fork seal
Leaking front master cylinder
Worn rear disk
Worn pads all round
I’d already warned them about corrosion but was unaware of the above.
Dealer quite rightly rejected my bike so no deal and a 200 mile ride home in even colder conditions - 6 degrees and fog......
Always serviced with bmw and under an extended warranty - I’m rather hoping it will cover the first three problems!!
On reflection I’m not sure I’d have enjoyed the ride home, or indeed eight hours in the saddle as much on the naked bike as I did on the GS.
Perhaps time to fix the problems and part ex for a KTM GT?
Does anyone have any idea if the extended warranty will cover the non wear related issues?
Just warming up with a large scotch!
