Hey NLS i really want to see the picture that you have of the Akrapovic on the 1200.
I have a sugestion on how to post a picture.
You can use Photobucket.com (it's free) to attach the picture.
I did it to post a picture of my aux lights, with good results.
And does anyone kowns when that exaust is going to be out?
Thanks

AKRAPOVIC

Ari
It was not shown on a bike at the show and availability is doubtful as it was just a prototype.

I've already emailed it to a guy here, I am waiting for him to post.

AKRAPOVIC SYSTEM

Here is the answer about the Akrapovic system:

"Estimated price will be in the region of £850 inc vat - it will be quite expensive as it has two silencers of course.

The part is not available yet for general release as it has a fuelling issue. It make the bike run VERY lean and therefore Akrapovic want to come up with a solution for the fuelling before the system is released."

It is very interesting how exhaust makers have all "attacked" (in less than a year) and made alternatives, even multiple alternatives. Seems the market is rather active for this bike. This can only show one thing (even is some people cannot accept that).

Or are they looking at taking a slice of the after market pie on a bike that is the UK's top selling 1lt plus motorcycle, let only the volume of world wide sales. NLS, its sounds like sour grapes to me.

Akropovic Photos

NLS / prop,

I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but if there are meant to be photos attached of the Akrapovic exhaust system on a 12GS, then I can't see them.

I'm really keen to find an exhaust system that allows equal size / full panniers to be attached both sides - are Akrapovic developing such a system for the GS? I'm not sure why BMW haven't done this anyway, I would have thought most GS folk would prefer even panniers of regular shape and capacity (rather than odd shape / capacity and eneven). Perhaps, NLS, you could e-mail the Akrapovic photos to me direct?

Cheers, Steve

I have on my bike an exhaust system underneath the engine. Maybe this is interesting for you. Check this this website for some pictures. As you can see it's without the can so equal large panniers shouldn't be the problem.

Sub-engine exhaust

Looks like a great idea Andre! I guess the obvious questions I'd have are:
1. Is it street legal in the UK?
2. Does it affect clearance? Photos suggest not.
3. Does it still allow engine protection? Photos suggest it does.
If answers to these are ok, I'd be quite keen on this - although chroming might be on the cards before fitting.

Hi Steve

I am not sure if it is completely street legal when we are talking about the noise. It's not ridiculous loud but it does make more noise than the normal exhaust. It's a nice full sound.

It takes the same space as the normal exhaust so there are no problems with groundclearence and I have the standard engine protection fitted so that's OK too.

Regards, Andre

Thanks Andre. I'm not getting mine until April, so I'll wait to see how this and other products progress, especially regarding legality. Being of the 'green' persuasion, I'd rather see the CAT remain intact, but we'll see...
Cheers, Steve

'Sporty' Rims & Tyres for 12GS

Sorry folks, ignore this as I thought it better to start a new thread...

I like the comic hand that fits on the beak, it will go with the fingers that make it look like you've trapped a midget in your boot..... or the cat's rear-end looking like.......
