Could be useful but I've not found a need for it. I usually stand on the wall of the tyre with my heel to keep the bead in the centre of the rim.

I bought one a few years ago from sky gods spot in Manchester, used it quite a few times on my trail bikes, great little thing wouldn't be without it, not used it on the big trail bike or on tubeless...

they're meant to help you hold down a tire bead , as you "chase" the other side with your tire levers.

only works with spoked wheels and its really hard work (esp with Metzelers).

I have found that the rubber outer part is not very tough. Mine tore on the third use. That and it didn't work well on the GS wire wheels. I just use a heavy duty one of these between the rim and the tire, clamped to the rim:

My brother bought one to try. It didn't work on my GS rims, nor did it work on his bike. Its a good idea, but the "fingers" don't spread wide enough to push the tire edge off the shoulder of the rim. Not even close, even using shims to push the tire further, and spraying lube down into the gap. It also scratches up your rims.
