The Chigee, carpuride and connected debate

Always a good bet. I always have my Nav 6 loaded up with all routes as a back up. In case disaster strikes and my 2 week trip then has no direction. I know many just follow their noses but if you have it all planned and your Nav goes down then having a back up could save the day👍👍
I take my Nav6, Phone with MRA and sometimes paper maps
Even when i fit the W702BS Pro i will still take the Nav6 pre loaded with the same route as a backup

Obviously this is on a tour, not a bimble to the lakes for the day lol

I have a good working Nav6 that i paid ÂŁ550 for in 2020, the resale value is crap because of all the faulty ones, so i will just keep it.
The Carpuride and Nav6 use the same cradle so easy to swap around when needed.

I did have a Montana mounted as well but that really is for emergency back up as it’s not supported by garmin anymore and the city nav doesn’t get updated, but the screen needs replacing so it the CarPlay on its own now, but I always have maps same as I did in the eighties, managed then ok.

The resale value has fallen on all dedicated GPS devices, as bods have been told that they must instead use a phone mirroring device to thereby exploit the wonders of their expensive phone
.. and save money. Dedicated GPS devices alone no longer cut the mustard.

Hi I think only the 702 BS fits strait into the BMW Nav prep, I have had both models since launched the BS for two years if set up correctly can’t fault it
Which one do you run now? The dedicated Android one?

And yet new Garmin devices are still expensive to buy new., maybe they will come down in time and us bikers that prefer them will get a bargain 👍

I’ve bought several secondhand GPS devices from the forum, without a problem. Unless the previous owner had tampered with the operating system, seeking to ‘improve’ it, it’s hard to break the devices. Trust the seller when they say “No cracks, dents, scratches” or whatever and all should be well.

But its not a standalone Android unit.
No it’s not stand alone Android, I have an iPhone which is great, have friends with android phone that also work fine, there are two ways with Carpuride of connection for carplay, plenty of stuff on Utube
