Firstly a big thanks to Timpo for some brilliant trails all weekend.
Thanks also to Tim and Tina for welcoming us into their home for the weekend, and feeding and watering us.
It was a brilliant weekends trailriding, a great pace each day, and packed full of fun.
We both really enjoyed ourselves. And sure a weekend in Wales wouldnt be the same without the Irish causing a bit of hassle!
The story: (as eoin wont be typing too fast at the moment!)
Saturday - After a fairly long day with few stops, light is starting to fade, and Timpo has a look in his eye that says, there's plenty more fun to come!
We loose a few of the group and Tim tracks back to see whats holding them up, to find Andy and Eoin on the floor in a mess of bikes.
A pheasant flew up from the hedgerow and in a flap of feathers, knocked both lads to the ground (last time in Wales it was a sheep that caused Eoins demise! - seeing a pattern?)
Andy had hurt his elbow, and Eoin had hurt his hand. He was just about able to ride the bike so after much deliberating and reading of maps, we got him to ride to the nearest pub (3 miles) and left him there to entertain the locals while we headed back to the cars. Of course the shortest route was across a mountain
and with darkness upon us this was an interesting ride to say the least!
I got back to Eoin in the pub, having taken some liquid pain killers, loaded up his bike, and headed off to A+E in Wrexham. We were in and out and arm in plaster within an hour! Got back to Tim and Tinas to a welcome indian and bottle of wine!
With Eoin out of the picture on Sunday, I decided the best way to cause problems on behalf of the Irish was not to fuel the bike before start off.
When that didnt impact the proceedings, me bike decides to start coughing and spluttering, and I learn the joys of "draining the carbs". Probably the result of a fairly deep "puddle" we encountered during the dark ride the previous evening.
It was another day packed full of some brilliant trails. Timpo you really know your way around those trails!
At one stage we were high up on one hill, and it actually started snowing on us! But even the onset of darkness wouldnt stop us, as Timpo desperately tried to wipe the grins off our faces.
But the reward for keeping going through it all was waiting back at the cars in the form of the famous chocolate cake which had travelled all the way from Berwick (Thanks Mrs Forrester!)
After we said our goodbyes to all the lads, we headed back to Tims to pack up for the trip home. A bit of food at the local, and we headed on our merry way. Very tired, but buzzing after a great weekend.
I didnt get many photos, as the pace kept us moving. But here's a few:
Tina (a bit blurred - she's too fast!)
Before the crash!
"Oooh, I like your bike!" "Oh no, I prefer yours!"
Tims local - oh whats that on the telly Tim?
