The HP2 Sport has landed

Thanks Jonas that´s the first piece of real information that any of us have had. I couldn´t find any reference to the valve in my CD and my dealer couldn´t tell me anything.
I have disconnected mine and it is definately (IMO) a bit louder but I also find it gives a better acceleration. I suppose it could just be imagination and as you say only a dyno run would show the truth. Anyway I will leave mine disconnected and I know Yonkyo has disconnected his...:Motomartin

Sorry to hear about you getting pulled over Yonkyo...it sounds like the Police were pretty severe with you...were they rude or just very serious?

It makes me wonder when they will start fining for loud pipes...it won't be good news for Harley owners if and when they do.

Do you now have to fit a legal plate and have it inspected at your local Police station?

Btw...you don't think that you have a rather jealous biker mate who is breaking your lens do you? :green gri

Yep…my bike runs real good without the valve connected. I believe that its only there to get the bike through the euro noise tests.

My exhaust is definitely louder too. However, its now starting to make a metallic rattling sound when the engine is cold:confused:, but rattles less when its hot. Like something loose inside the silencer can.

Is anyone else’s exhaust rattling:confused:

The officers weren’t rude, just very officious:rob. As for the plate, I must just pay the fine. They didn’t ask for proof that I’ve fitted a legal one. So I’ve still got the small plate on…fcuk the system (ooh I’m such a rebel:mmmm).

My mates must be jealous, cause they keep throwing stones at my winkers. :thumb

You have the solution in your own post!

My exhaust rattled when i disconected the wire to the exhaust-valve! I dissapered when I conected it again! ;)

You say the valve is to reduce noice, but the valve doesn'y cut the sound or exhaust flow when standing still and revving the engine! If to reduce noise why not? The valve is adjusted by the cpu to reduce flow when the engine needs it to, to optimize performance. But I really don't care if all the HP2S owners disconnects the valve or not that's their buissness and everyone is entitled to their own opinion!

As long as you're happy with your bike, enjoy! :D

Exhaust Valve

I have run the bike both ways thru the same 150 mile loop. Overall performance appears to be about the same. Sound is a bit louder, particularly during the "backfiring" that our bikes are prone to do. The one measurable difference that I have found with the valve disconnected is an increase in fuel consumption. I get about four to five miles per gallon less mileage. I have not noticed any "rattling" either way.
I think that only a back to back Dino test would be able to detect if there are any performance differences, particularly torque at low to mid RPM's.

I'm at CW Motorcycles this morning having my K1300S serviced.

I've just been out on their demo HP2 Sport for an hour.

Nice bike-the quality of the components is stunning.

Very firm suspension, even compared to K13S in Sport mode, felt a bit gutless after mine, even though I've been running it in.

Roomy riding position but bars a fair bit lower making it quite 'wristy'.

So if anyone wants a try,get down to Dorchester, but don't like it too much as CW have an unsold HP2 Sport in the window !

hi guys i have just got my head round posting pics so i thought i would show you my stable

I know the angle of the HP2 sport bars can be adjusted upward and downward slightly. Im wondering if there might be a way to raise the height of the bars in relation to the fork tubes using maybe a preexisting riser set made for another model The sport looks great but the bar lean would be torture on my cranky back.

That's a fine collection you have there mate.
Is that a classic Rickman kawa Z1 I see?? I've just got all misty eyed seeing that.

170hp v 130hp, the HP2 is bound to feel a bit lacking, but it's not about the horsepower (ok an extra 40hp would interesting) with the HP2. It's just special. It may have a sporty riding postion, but I did 2k miles through Spain last year on mine, no problem.

Here, have you still got your RC8?

Had mine 2 weeks today,
Only 140 miles

God how i luv this country and its weather.:mad:

If i walk into those god damm indicators one more time in the garage i'll Scream. :blast

Done more miles on my mountain bike.

crap indicators

hi smarty 44
watch out for the indicators ,caught mine with a trouser leg and snapped it and week later parked it up ,came back and another one done in ,so done front left and back right , held together now with super glue ,cant tell apart from a little white haze underneath the stalk , i suppose someone might see it as i go past on the back wheel :augie. paranoid when i park it up now . they would be ok if they were 30mm in . :)

Nice photos Rubin - but what's that bike with 4 wheels in black?:D

I don't know that part of France very well. But I am afraid that it looks like a lot of boring Motoway work for you! IMO you would be better changing the ferry to Santander. If not head inland and cross the Pyrenees Central. Then Jaca to Huesca or Ainsa to Lleida..........:thumb

Try this site for French roads http://www.btinternet.com/~ultrablade/ I have done a lot of these roads but Central to Southern France. :Motomartin

In for penny, in for a pound.:hide

As you all know, the mirrors on the HP2S really let down an otherwise excellent road bike:blast. So I’ve been experimenting with different solutions.

I’ve tried mirror extensions, but they offer only a small improvement.:(

Then I was offered some ZZR1400 mirrors, which I thought looked quite nice.
So I took the plunge and fitted them. Now at first I thought I’d made a big mistake and ruined the appearance of the bike.
But they are growing on me now and they work brilliantly. They don’t vibrate
any more than the standard items and the rear view is as good as my GSA.:thumb2

Take the piss if you will……:augie

I think they look OK Yonkyo. How about a Picy from futher away. I think that would give a more balanced look as the stems seem too small for the heads (imo) close up. If it saves your licence you have certainly done the right thing.:Motomartin

Yeah, a pic from far away would help. They seem pretty nice. Did you have to modify the bike fairing at all (heaven forbid that).... or just the mirrors... or just bolt em up?
