The Irish Tosser's Navigation Rally, The First Date in '08, Cashel, Co Tipperary.

Sadly, I don't think I will make this one lads. :( I would have to leave home by 6am at the latest to make the meet at 9-30am, which after the night before may be a bit optimistic.

Is the Map 66 a necessity?
Is GPS a necessity?
And do we need both/either?
Will there be Gardai waiting around each corner with a breathalizer?

No. :rob
No. :rob
Exactly. :D
No, all Garda check points will be at the end of straight streches of road only. :aidan

With the Grid Referances you could use either a Map or a GPS or both.:thumb2

Start in Cashel Co Tipp more info here

We hope to be in place from 0900 on the morning Drinking Coffee in Mother Hubbards

Mother Hubbards Link Here http://www.motherhubbards.com/locations/cashel.htm

"The venue" Dundrum House Hotel, Dundrum, Cashel, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. Tel: +353 (0)62 71116 Email: [email protected] Web: www.dundrumhousehotel.com

We will close the start at 1030 am and move on to the lunch stop in Dundrum Co Tipp ( The Venue Bar ) the lunch stop in open from between 1200 hrs to 1400 and the finish Check .... Back at Mother Hubbards we will close at 1530

this should help tossers to get back home mainly in daylight

it looks like we might have a member giving a display on the GS911 Diagostic Tool as mentioned here http://www.biketec.ie/biketec_shop.html

you are allowed 5 hours from you leaving time ... to include 1 Hour Compulsory lunch stop till the time you hand back you clue sheet

to stop congestion groups of one or two only ( dont want to frighten the locals with big groups of bikes arriving )

suggested way to do it is

Leave at 1000 hrs ride for 2 hours Arrive at lunch ( Brendan "McGiver") hopes to arrange a stew and sandwiches )
1200 Arrive at Lunch "The Venue Dundrum Co Tipperary"
1300 Depart Lunch
1500 Arrive end "Mother Hubbards"

it looks like there will be between 20 and 30 Checks some on roads some on Tracks / trails . course has been laid out by a rider on GS1200 adv so should suit you.

if you have a GPS in the morning when you arrive put in your points in, to bring you up to lunch, and at lunch put in the remainder to bring you back to the End, all checks are located on map 66 if we know you are coming and, and you dont have a map we can bring photo copies for you

There is no charge, but we would like a donation of 5 or 10 euro that will go to a Charity.

Remember this is a bit of fun

Lunch stop at check 44 still in Dundrum but changed venue

The Grumpy is coming to upload your GPS's he will have his laptop with him
he just asks if you have a computer lead to upload software bring it with you

Questions on Nav Run

Good Questions R2D2

1. how many points does one have to pass to qualify ?

There is no qualification , you do what you want there are about 4 Checks and 30 are on back roads or towns and about 8 on tracks or trails , the higher the points score the more difficult , most checks score 10 or 20 points each and the highest is 50 points on some of the off road ones, but if you go off road only you could do a bit of pushing or being sensible park the bike about 100/200 meters away and walk in ( GPS a Big help )

2. can the lunch stop be at anytime ?

There is 5 hours from when you start ( between 9.30 and 10.30 ) until the end (1430 to 1530 ) and within those 5 hours you have to stop for 1 Hour at the lunch stop it looks like between 1230 and 1330, at check 44

3. can it be 2 half hours ?

No only one session of 1 hours ( you have to hand it your check sheet or Bike keys )

4. how bad is the off-road ( Keeper Hill or slightly worn tarmac ) ?

The Course has been laid out by mcivor on a 1200 gs adventure on standard tyres .... but he can ride a bike ... he will let people know how difficult the terrain is at briefing on New years day morning

5. what do i win ?

Best performance is a bottle of whiskey that has been donated by Joe Cahill
and best performance does not include cheating ,
this is a fun run and there is no entry fee , but if you want to donate 10 euro to a charity it would be appriciated .. and the winner of the Draw will choose the charity

Keep the questions coming
