There aren’t many vehicle companies bringing out completely new internal combustion engines nowadays, virtually none in the car world. Whilst I accept this 1300 engine may well have been in design and testing for a few years I feel it could be the last.

No worries it wont be the last as the government mandated electric future is already over...For obvious reasons ! What I can see is a kind of flywheel hybrid system working as engine braking and power booster like it is coming on the new 911...And no worries if the western companies wont bring out new ICE engines the chinese gladly will without saying thank you stupid idiots...LOL Not that it will change anything in the UK as the automotive industry is already dead...!

Saw this recently looks like a very interesting update for a ICE.
Could be useful in the motorcycle field due to its size / power ratio.

Um not sure how it would be that much more efficient.
I like the idea of the 5 stroke , think Mazda are going to start using it.

Or what about the Koenigsegg camless ? 3 cylinder twin turbo 2ltr giving 600 hp and only weighing 75 kg ! That would fit int a bike !!

Turbo compounding was used in some Scania engines a few years ago. They didn't really take off and have pretty much disappeared now.

Turbo compounding is still used in Mercedes/detroit diesel truck engines and has nothing in common with a electric flywheel a la Vossen or what Porscxhe will use in upcoming hybrid very little/light battery 911 versions...Turbo compounding was the use of the kinematic energy of the turbo directly on the flywheel...Good and efficient idea on a trck diesel to get a few more nms of torque pulling heavy loads up a grade but useless on a motorcycle...While additional boost from a electric flywheel would be great accelerating hard for short periods of time or also slowing down saving brake wear...And no in 2035 there will be mo EU anymore but plenty of new internal combustion engines ! Electric is dead even if our idiot politicians still spout nonsense and lies every day...Hopefully the next boxer will have a Mittellager/center crank bearing and maybe a Vossen type flywheel !

Kawasaki seem to be investing in electric hybrid petrol engines now, even stating that they're their future focus. Bikers tend to come one of two main camps. One which embraces development, be that petrol or electric, and the other citing motorcycle engines as the main characteristic of riding and chosing a bike. I'm in the latter camp but at the exclusion of electric bikes. I will never own nor buy an electric bike and couldn't care less if they sort battery tech out, nor what power or torque advantages they may have. For me, the riding experience is all about the engine, the noise, even the vibes. Some call it "character". I'll always have an ICE engine unless petrol vanishes from the forecourts which I very much doubt will happen in the medium term, which will see my riding days out.

Morety I would not buy anything electric either...Just scored one of the last Challenger Widebodies with a 6.4 L n/a V-8 & 6-speed manual like Kowaslski would drive if they had made Vanishing Point in 2023...LOL Love the car...So raw and emotional ! American name ,Italian car company , Mercedes designed / E-class body from 2002 , mexican V-8 made in Canada ! If automatics are the death of fun , electric is death itself and if naive & gullible think C02 has anything to do with climate change that has been going on for millions of years they must ask themselves why electric if this crap emits even more C02...Idiots ! Only the social & economic climate will change if you make energy more expensive by taxing C02 and giving addtional billions to the cap & trade fraudsters...As we can all see how the criminals and stupid frauds in Berlin sink Germany. As for motorcycles a little electric flywheel a la Porsche is great but heavy batteries , short range/long loading times and No Sound will be Death to motorcycling...Hence no worries when the EU is long gone we will still enjoy new ICE engines and burn cheap petrol which is plentyful despite all the lies of the fearmongers who want to fill their own pockets on our misery...
