The new 1200gs lowered

Have to agree with the angel of the knees is not the best,I will try with the seat at 810mm or even the standard seat.
Another option with the low seat is adjustable footrest

I had them on a R1200R and they worked fine, adjusteed a little forward and down.
when it comes to riding long last summer 6000km in 5 days,in 2004 on the 1200GS 1600km from south of Sweden to Alta Norway in 17hr.
The longest trip in 24hr Bayux Franch to Oslo Norway 1880km done on a F800GS:aidan

Thats mileage! (sorry still imperial here!!). The lower seat should really be called a cut down seat as I am sure it has less padding? Finished up sitting on the front edge of the rear perch in order to save my cheeks!

Same problems that I have, ending up sitting on you balls:D
BUT sitting on the new bike at the mc show was a good experiense, the seat is flat all the way to the tank, the ergometrics has improved 100%Icould sit all the way towards the tank on a flat surface, not half way up the tank with your ass in the "hole"
The steering bars just fell in to my hands with out any effort with out any riser.
I thing this bike will be very good for us short arms/asses and muscular upper body

Hoping to test ride Tuesday while mines being serviced. I use a low seat on my 1200, do you know if the old style low seat will fit the new WC one? Just in case they havent got a low seat for it?

No chance:blast

If you are a cross between a duck and a bantam why don't you just buy a van - van instead of buggering up normal height bikes.

Why dont bike makers accept that people come in different sizes. My brother's Mrs would love to ride his GS but no way can she touch the floor and she's just a slightly shorter than average woman. My wife cant ride but she cant touch the floor either. I just about cope but a lower seat and longer side stand will sort me out.

Why cant we have retracts? Then no need to put feet down, the seat can be any height we like and with comfy legs.

Why? Oh yes, because its just not done dear boy.

hi
as iI understand it they do have a low seat, but not in the same way as the "vintage" 1200gs,the low seat will be adjustable from 790- 810 mm including the lowring of the suspention by 30mm.I will go to check it today as my new bike have arrived at the dealer yesterday.

Yes there is a low seat, seatheight on a standard bike will be 820mm,adjustable to 830mm.The passenger seat is also adjustable.

I sat on the new GS and the seat seemed narrower i had an older 1200 with
a low seat and i didn't think there was much difference between the two ;)

hopefully i won't be buggering up another normal sized bike

have you ever ridden the mountain passe in the alps like the Stelvio or Gross Glocner and others, going in to the bends on your way up,and had to stop, because of meeting traffic.
If you had you would understand the reason for being able to more or less flatfoot your bike on a flat surface.
I have no counts on how many bikes I have seen falling over with pillions and luggage when riders 6 feet or more suddenly find them self on the ground with a bike on top.:aidan
to make the bike fit you you have two options, buy an other bike or make the bike fit you,I prefer the last.:thumb2

I got the ROX risers

So, can you confirm that the GS LC's handlebar is indeed 1 1/8" in diameter at the clamps? I am looking into risers myself, and was interested in the Rox. But I don't know for sure if the GS LC's bar is 1 1/8". Thank you.

If you order a lowered chassis bike it comes with ESA option as well. You can't fit the lowered seat as well.

Hi
I can confirm that the handelbars on the LC is the same as the old Gs
1.1/8"

The standard bike seat height is 850mm,the lowerd (on suspention) is 820mm
If you then put the low seat on, on the lowest setting you will get 790mm
and 810mm if you put the low seat at the higher setting.
if you want 820mm you order a standard lowered and keep the standard seat.
The low seat is free in Norway, and mine comes with that.I might have to buy a standard seat and try it,as the low seat is not as comfortable as the standard seat(more padding)

I have ordered a high seat for £207 and will therefore have a standard seat spare. Shame you live in Norway :toungincheek
