The new 1300adv test ride.

Is that 6k less than you paid for your GS Trophy or 6k less than the price of the GSA 719 ? They’re not the same price
They offered me £17k for my bike which cost £23k in April. 1,216 miles on it, no damage, all relevant services completed by them.

I paid about the same in March but I've done 6,000 miles dread to think what it worth now.I intend to keep it at least 4 years so it might level out.

I’d have more mileage on it but tore my ACL so was unable to ride for a while. Hopefully yours will even out.

£6,000 in 8 months ,I lost £6,000 in 5 years on my1250 Rallye I thought that was bad enough!
And GS owners scoff at the hideous depreciation (that they perceive ) on a Chinese bike . Pot Kettle !

No idea what you are going on about. Who hurt you mate?
Wasn’t aimed at you . Just a generalisation from some of the blinkerati on here that sit high and mighty on their PCP rented £20K+ depreciation-proof steeds and look down on others 😜

Ah understood! I paid cash for mine and honestly knew there’d be some depreciation but didn’t think it would be nearly 25% of the purchase price.

As In most cases if you sell after just a year you lose a chunk of the value, when I worked I'd change my bikes and cars after 2 to 3 years and couldn't care less about depreciation now I'm retired I have to keep an eye on the pennies .I'll be keeping this one at least 4 years, that's the plan anyway.

I dont think it helps that the market is saturated with 1300's for sale at the moment, only to look on Autotrader there's dozens of them

I had a look at GSA for the first time today (Bahnstormer have bloody loads of them in), and I have to eat a big slice of humble pie and say I like it, despite slagging it off when the first pictures came out. I think I'd consider one ahead of a GS, having owned 3 GSs so far. I'm probably looking at at least 15K to change though, so I'll be hanging on to the 1250 for a couple of years more I think.

I agree. The tank of the Triple Black GSA is stunning - the lacquer over the anthracite brushed ally is ace. There is lots more difference between a 13GS and 13GSA now... maybe this was an issue with the 1250 series as it was not always immediately obvious when you glanced at a 1250GS or GSA to work out which was which, especially if they were in the same colourway.

True dat :nod

I had a couple of hours on one this afternoon.
My thoughts were very similar to when i demo`d a 1300GS earlier in the year - gruff sounding engine, shonky gearbox, suspension setup too firm and overall not all that inspiring, really.
It`s basically a 1300GS (with all that models leaning towards road-based dynamics) but with different bodywork (hardly surprising).
The feel aboard is that you are sat on it rather than in it.
My one had the auto ride height thing and when parked up when in the low position next to a full fat 1250 looked really rather small and had nothing of the 1250`s imposing stature.
It does go very well though when wound up if that`s your thing. I thought the 13GS i tested in Jan felt like it had much more low down grunt/torque than a 1250 but i didn`t get that impression today for some reason.
The handling is very sharp and belies the weight, it feels very `planted` and `on rails` as they say.
Screen was good (electric on this one).
Seat was hard.
If you like your bikes biased towards the sporty end of the spectrum you may like it, i`m a bit of a plodder nowadays and much prefer the softer, more rounded relaxed feel of the 1250 with it`s compliant, comfy suspension that you can actually feel working and love to wallow in the pool of torque and flexibility the 1250 is reknown for. The gearbox on my bike is much, much better than the 13`s i tested today.
The GS/A is suppoed to be an off-road bike, why are they making them even more sportier?

I think the real test after i demo is what you think of your current bike on the way home.
I preferred my 1250 - smoother, slicker, more comfortable and just has that satisfying feeling of being `just right`. And it doesn`t look like lego.

PX value on my bike was low, salesman admitted motor industry is in crisis, haggling is already an option on even a new model like the GSA.
Fill yer boots.

I agree with all this, I test rode one for 2 hours on Tuesday. The only thing I can add is that on a dual carriageway at 80ish it felt I little unstable, like a mini tank slapper type feeing. My 1250 GSA was as steady as a rock on the M/way back home. I won't in a rush to change, in the same way I was when I had a 1250GS, and test rode the GSA. I actually preferred the 1300GS I had as a courtesy bike a couple of weeks ago, but that had ASA. The ASA was better than I expected it to be, But shocked how noisy and rattly the engine is in comparison.

I also agree that the tank finish on the Triple Black is stunning.

I was looking at that vast expanse of grey from the rear of the bike at Bahnstormer yesterday, and my first thought was "What is this grey model that I've never heard of" ? :) It's only when you see it from the side that you can see it's actually Triple "Black" .

They should have called it the '50 shades of grey' really.

Have to agree with Hann on most of what he said, the main issue for me and my test ride was the seat being very uncomfortable ( low seat) on the highest setting and not enough leg room. Ps I think my 1250 gsa changes gear better and not a rattler 7 month old 4K and not paying £7350 to change
