The New Toy!

Odyssey Batteries etc.

Thanks Rob and Kenny, it's got the correct Ignition Units and plugs and.....................starts an awful lot better when linked to my Hilux!

So as I suspected it needs a battery and as Mick suggests it will get an Odyssey, is there any better source than Motorworks, I probably need two as the 1200 is still on it's original battery and at three years old is probably ready.

Steve S. also thinks it will run much better with a 0.65mm gasket under the barrels to improve the swirl caused by putting Siebenrock 1000cc pistons against 800cc heads and its piston edge step so I'll look at that and give it a whirl.

Timing, Exhaust, Battery and Clutch!

Had a little run to Sleaford today, no wonder it didn't want to start..............Ignition timing 6deg after TDC..............it now starts as it should! (and goes like it should).

The exhaust is a proper mish-mash............headers from an RT (complete with balance pipe), Y piece from a 100GS with 90deg entry from LH cylinder, connecting piece and silencer T3 from Quill! I'm keeping that but proper headers and collection box ordered from Keihan..............that lot should all fit together properly and get rid of the blowing joints (of which there were several).

Odyssey sorted to replace the failing lead acid presently in situ (list price from Motorworks less than Nippy's 'sale' price..............no further comment)............also fitted a clutch rod return spring...........what a difference now its set up right!

Fork brace and twin disc kit sorted.......going to rebuild and use the calipers off the 'Caff Racer' (got a K100 front end for that)

Next trick is to sort the rear shock and the lights........then the wheels and tyres, then the paint work in the spring etc etc.................but pleased with my purchase!

Nah, sounds like a right shonker.
Best you flog it quick.
I tell you what, I'll take it off your hands and I'll even collect it.
Can't say fairer than that. :thumb
