A decent enough review of the 1290SAR and to a lesser extent, the S here. Also a bit about the GS Rallye. Bonus of a light shoeing of Honda and the AT as well :)

They do display a surprisingly flimsy grasp of technical matters sometimes, and even specs, but I find the pair quite entertaining. SH does seem to have twigged about electronic suspension bullshit though.

The production bike will turn out more like a V-Strom and I already have one of those....

...but that concept is what KTM need to build next (700 - 800cc lightweight off-road focussed and affordable) and I think the Mrs will need to upgrade to one :D

They already have an 800 twin (soon to be launched) so it won't be long before they bung the lump in off road guise.......................

Personally, feck the off road version, I'd go for the Duke :D

As Nutty has mentioned elsewhere,looks like KTM have fucked up big time with the 1290R as it's being held in the factory with front wheel issues,supposedly snagged up by journos on the launch.
So I've binned the R and my dealer will find out in a week or so if he can get me an S before the end of April.
If not then money back and Plan B.

It seems weird that they sold a 21 inch spoked wheel on the 1190R seemingly without any problems? :duno

A few posts about stability and weaves etc....

Could the blend of dirt bike mechanics and 160bhp be finally coming home to roost as a fucking stupid idea...?
