The Shakedown

Whewn I had my 80gs, I ran it on the metzelers that Proff recomends aqnd it was bloody fantastic on the road well over 80 with no probs. the 100 GS para on t5kc's was pretty impressive and I only had a problem one day when I waggled the bars, just to see what happened.....:augie:augie never again but she would go to the ton with no shake. perhapse big fat bloke, large ally paniers and a Ohlins rear shock helped.
I always shut the fuel taps on my bikes when stopped.

Ummm tyre pressures. Yep checked em, a bit low:augie. Sub 20 on the front and a little more on the rear.

Fuel tap is off now, so she'll be out of fuel again by the end of the road next ride.:blast

Had an hour free so fitted the rear panniers today; just can't escape from chrome (still at least one of the frames I had is black:clap). Also pushed the speedp bulb back so I can see it at night now.

Almost ready to explore beyond the M25:).

Thats because you have the superior Paralever. If you had the early, unstable at high speed, g/s I'm sure you would be telling us a different tale :D

My G/S is on Siracs and seems stable enough but the tyres are no good off road unless it's absolutely bone dry

My totally standard Basic has spent most of its life on Enduro 4s and then Tourances. Living in Germany at the time I bought it new, I was able to indulge in the occasional forearm building 170 km/h max out (once run in, of course) and on those tyres, I've never experienced any bad behaviour at Vmax. I've not tried TKCs, so I can only comment by ommission, if you see what I mean.

I was interested in your comment re. fuel starvation. A couple of times during the occasional Vmax autobahn run, I did experience fuel starvation like symptoms (on what was then a nearly new bike) when running less than half a tank (but comfortably above reserve) and I put it down to a possible vacuum effect on the standard Basic (aka R80ST) tank at over 100mph (and paranoid thoughts of the pots partially nipping up have not been proven by all the miles I've piled on since). The starvation effect went away after slowing down. Certainly, I've never experienced those symptoms at normal road speeds.
