When - 23/5/2010
Where - on route to Ainsa, Spain.
Mileage - 35400 miles
Plate - 54
Name - Rob
Time lost - 4/5 hours

Changed with my spare - but failed to rectify problem due to own stupidity - cables not connected fully.

Recovered by C Nash people - all very efficient.

Once cables connected all looks OK

FPC

Not a GS but RT

Where Normandy France
Sun 2nd MAY

Back to UK the next day via French Breakdown Truck.

Really Gutted as only over for a short break.

But have to say BMW assist were really good.

Vines fixed under AUB warranty within two days.

Question is can it fail again and should I buy a spare FPC and find out how to fit it.??

Shouldn't you have gotten a replacement under goodwill warranty or the recall?

Hi, I'm posting this for my neighbour Patrick who's not on this forum.

- When did it happen? July 20th 2010.
- Where did it happen ? On Brussels Ring highway (our equivalent to M25), on the fast lane.
- Rider name ? Patrick D.
- Bike details ? R1200GS june 2007, UK bought and exported, 11000 miles.
- Remedy ? Patrick asked me to help him retrieve his bike, on the way there I realised what the cause was, and at home helped him out with the spare I have.
- How many days work/holiday did he lose? None, but 1/2 day of his own time. With a family member in Emergency at Hospital, it became a hectic day for him. Retrieving his bike and mending it took us 3 hours.
- Were there any incidental costs? Transport getting home, picking up/bringing back trailer, petrol.

He's getting a new module for free this week. And I'll be getting my spare back. It's happened to me twice (see in this thread somewhere), that's why I have a spare that now came in handy.

Cheers, GSband
