well after lots of phoneing around i've found out about PDR101. The frames a genuine 1984 HPN dakar frame:clap:clap It was a spare for that little belgien fellow and was aquired in 1985 but the guy who built the bike, along with the dakar tank that was later sold by the guy i bought it from. it also had the rear swing arm and bevel drive and forks. The SA was of the shorter type as fitted in 84. I shall post some photos of it in its 80's trim when i get the time for you to have a gander at.
big question is, do i leave it as it is or do i rebuild as the 84 penthouse bike:nenau

as 101 looked in 1990

This is what 101 looked like between birth in 1985 to 1990. Should i put it bak to this :nenau

Your the PROFF:thumb:bow:bow:bow:bow:bow

So who are these mythical "Those that may doubt" people ?

The comments that appear to have got up your nose when the Ebay ad first appeared were more about the look of the bike than anything else. I still think it looks odd.

The original dakar bike looks more than a bit odd :thumb

Twin light nose fairing needs changing to sort out the looks, but the work that's gone into making that one is extraordinary. The guy who built it was a great guy, but a little bit of a loon too :thumb

Of course it looked ODD !! it was built for a purpose, and one purpose only.
To win the hardest MoBike race of the time.:thumb2
and considering it was ridden by a Midget, who made it look even odder :eek
I think they did a bloody good job :clap:clap
anyway >> "Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder":rose

I was bidding on it and would have gone higher than Si did. but it's too fecking huge for me and it deserves better than being in the back of my barn:bow
I dropped out when I found out:thumb2 that another more able[ read MAD] Tosser was on it also

You could sell the bits for more than he paid so I would say he got a bargain.

Hey i got it for a song

I'd got a budget for the bike and was lucky to get it for the price. at the end of the day i've bought it to use it, its not going to waste. Proff if you ever want to have a play your welcome. Flip and I will be there to catch you:o Rob sorry chap i wasn't having a pop, you didn't think it sounded right and nore did I until i made a few calls. Its a genuine buy. The guy didn't try to sell it as a genuine one unlike the guy in italy. Granted that one is very nicely done but its got less provinance than mine and the guy originally wanted over 60,000euros.
Hey it is what it is and i can't wait to get it dirty. The big re-do can wait till winter:thumb2

Perhaps now that youve got one with massive ground clearance ( or should I say "Water Clearance") you will be able to cross fords without drowning the bugger:blast
Great buy by the way, cant wait to see it. I would love to see Proff on it though... Now that would make a picture,:aidan:aidan
