OK, I know I'm being dim, I just don't want to scratch paintwork etc. I'm putting a crash bung on the swingarm, what's the best way of removing the plastic cover that's already there. It must mimic the shape of the bung going in so is held centrally. Prize it out with summink, push it out from the back (if that's possible)? Somehow get a purchase on it knowing you'll ruin the plastic (but it's being replaced anyway? Can anyone advise?

It was a while ago that I got mine out, but I think I used a slimline jewelers screwdriver, I was careful to ease from one side and then the other, I think trying to prise it all the way out in one go will means too much force is needed and the plastic is then damaged.

Having fitted a few of these now, I remove the plastic cover with my Swiss Army knife. First, I cut a small slot in the centre of the cover and then screw the corkscrew into it until it grips and use that to pull the cover off. It ruins the cover but removes the risk of scratching the paint on the shaft casing and encouraging corrosion.
