Thin waterproof gloves

little tip , there is no such thing as a waterproof glove ... the rain gets in somewhere , usually down your arm and into the glove .
want warm dry-ish hands , get h/bar muffs that come up to your elbow .

want to keep you hands dry ? don't go out in the rain ! FIXED.

Wet suits (well, the better ones) are waterproof, but they are not sealed, so the water gets in at your ankles, neck, wrists, and the zip. They keep you warm by limiting heat loss through the material, and by being tight fitting so the water doesn’t flush through. Dry suits are (usually) dry due to built in socks, and seals at the wrists and neck, and a dry zip. They keep you warm by using a nice snug quilted inner romper suit, and the the insulation that the suit provides.

Both are commonly made from neoprene, with a synthetic stretchy fabric facing, much like those gloves.

Not known for abrasion resistance, I reckon neither would be a fat lot of use in “an off”.

yep that would be the unicorn of glove
the Rukka Apollo is thin leather and waterproof but not short cuff and bloody expensive
Klim Vanguard but although described as lightweight might be on the thick side

I can strongly recommend these gloves. Only got wet once after a full day of torrential rain and that was only because the water got up my jacket sleeve on a bike without hand guards. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/495656

Yeah, I can attest to those, best waterproof gloves I have that aren’t bulky at all. I hate anything that restricts feel and these are warm enough in all conditions I’ve come across (although I do have heated grips and hand guards! Lol). I’m also a big fan of the short glove - and those snug nicely under your jacket of choice too. There’s also a Hydra 2 if you don’t fancy the leather

I use Rukka Virium on warm wet days (i.e. European holidays!). They're very expensive. I got mine off a fellow UKGSer, 2nd hand (no pun intended).
Some on ebay now if you have small hands https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156054794307?itmmeta=01HPG3R279RHHE2KN48X37KY6C&hash=item2455973043:g:HbsAAOSwMu5lM~H0&itmvar=enc:AQAIAAAAwAsUOafsKZapoSK0f7HKM6bQUcug4ogQmruCmddf2Mn/ZuHP4E3aQFA21q7xRLwV3wnr9w48kjrEWRHCkCpkfDbxW0HwMEPFltIPnlCoPyTTLMzMiv5NIwXHGdQTO5F4FqC/sNzyNqUP7HktfWpHFmlz+6/ZgKRf8UvGAnaxXBcRFSL4t7stpGLT88as5pooL4y5bnkEOslZUKYQDWuQbL68JjPCiIFgN2LUqFtSZh/1p8QgLjXT3tsggf5ZGiWn/A==|tkp:Bk9SR96j4IO0Yw

I prefer textile to leather for wet-weather gloves, less likely to "wet out". I mostly use Knox Handroid Pod when it's dry weather

I use these, they really are brilliant gloves. More three season than anything else but my hands have never been wet. Though unfortunately they do have the dreaded liner issues that seem to plague all gloves I buy, especially on the index fingers. If my hands are particularly sweaty it's even worse and the line comes out with my hands. Still the best I've found though.

Have a look at the LOMO website, some very good kit and I have a set of the mountain gloves which are 100% waterproof unlike previous very expensive Sealskins

Rukka Kalix 2 but they work so don’t cost a tenner

Kalix gloves are the same as far as I can see
Apologies if this bad form jumping in with this

Goretex sympatex, eVent, and the rest of the ‘tex’s are all waterproof until the membrane is compromised. Goretex give the best guarantee so get a pair made with that. As someone else said textile is better than leather as it doesn’t wet out so quickly and dries a whole lot quicker too.

The main thing is get the cuff sealed really well. A long cuff on the glove helps here no end, then jacket over the top.

The second main thing is don’t take your gloves off again once they are wet. You will never get it as good as when you first did when everything was dry and you will have wet hands when you put everything back on. That’s when linings stick to the hands and rain just seems to get everywhere. Some super thin liners seem to work well as once you’ve turned a liner inside out it’s never the same again.

I have Rukka Virium which were £80 in a sale and so far 100% waterproof as long as I am careful. Longest wet ride about 300 miles all day and bone dry. I only took them off once in a cafe where I could dry my hands and gloves before putting it all back on. An over jacket helps no end too.

Why does my wet suit let water in then? Is it just because the seams aren't sealed?

:nenau
And the holes at the neck, ankles and wrists. Wets suits are designed to let some water in, what you try to stop is it ‘flushing’ through the suit. A neoprene dry suit has seals at the neck & wrists, usually the boots are built in.

I got through 4 pairs of those under warranty before I gave up on them

Blimey! My pair are about 2 years old and have done quite a few miles. Took a bit of wearing in but now very comfy, no problems at all.
