Hi guys and ladies, i'm seriously thinking of buying a new GSA. What I'm asking your advice on is what type of deal would be possible as a buyer. A discount on the price, extras added etc. I would be greatful for any bargaining tips off the many wise people on here as I can't remember buying anything new in a long while

Cheers
Rob.

Hi,

Depends on dealership for deals/offers. Some are better than others.

I got my GSA off Alan Jefferies with £800 discount and my accessories off Williams in Manchester which were alot cheaper thanks to a member of this parish who works there!

Get one with all the shit on it! Not many people seem to go for lesser spec bikes :beerjug:

Wow Rob, you joined this Forum 3 years ago and this is your first post so congratulations on that!!

There have been some threads in that time on this subject which you can find by searching, though BMW don't really like their dealers discounting beyond official promotions such as free Sat-Nav' offers. Are you BMW in disguise? LOL

You will know how much you can afford so one suggestion is spec the bike you want and contact a few dealers (one at a time) with "your offer" to buy said bike to see what responses you get. Just the bike, treat the accessories (not Factory Options) separate exercise as already stated. Take a tour of the dealers in comfortable travel distance of you and see how you rate your experience of them.

If you've read this forum for 3 years you will have seen similar posts to yours, if not use the search facility!

Good Luck!

Afternoon Rob,

No thinking needed, your wasting mileage time - just do it!

Afraid cannot really help with discounts as my dealer always seem to line their pockets first.........

The final spec you choose is one thing, the best spec is what you add during the honeymoon period and remainder of ownership. It just gets better.

If you are mainly going to ride on the road then the TE spec is a good starting point. To that I would add the Nav5, quick shift, luggage and possibly the cornering ABS new for the 2016 model year. Is horses for courses - so the keyless start and factory alarm did nothing for me.

If you can afford the shortfall or gap insurance it would be wise to take it. Had my first bike accident in June and wrote my 3 month old GSA off (nearly did the same to me and my partner) and have now been paid out - to a greater sum than I originally paid for my GSA!

Come winter hope to be fit to ride and will order my 4th GSA - for next year.

Regards

Thanks for the replies fellas, think it's going to be a GSA te model in blue hope to get to dealers this week sometime to get the ball rolling

Cheers

Just FYI I do not think that cornering ABS is an option on the 2016 MU GSA.

Dario

Its on the one I've ordered 2 weeks ago, cornering abs, also dynamic rear brake light. Its a 2016 GSA te in Ocean Blue :D

It definitely is! I was also told it's a software update for 14/15 bikes for a fee.

Edit! That's the new brake light flashing thingy. Not abs pro.

Thought it said you could only have the flashing brake light with Abs pro??

Would be could to have otherwise if the price was ok, must admit it showed up well against the standard bike on the promotional video!

if you're going to the dealer in Cardiff go to the sales guy upstairs with the Ducatis - Steve, don't bother with the miserable one downstairs !

I have just ordered a TE GSA from Allan Jeffries and they don't appear to have any details on cornering ABS as an option for the bike. I will check with them again as there seems to be a bit of confusion regarding this.

Its not optional, its standard updates on the 2016 model. New colours, Dynamic Brake Light, Cornering ABS. According to Wolverhampton BMW

Some dealers "may" have a couple of pre registered ones kicking about at their premises if they were tight on quotas... they add an owner to the V5 but they cant sell them as brand spankers so get a decent discount ;)

I think there is also a freebie sat nav offer running at the moment with my local place but not sure if its a national offer

The sat nav offer was for bikes ordered by the end of June, although some dealers might of extended it? It also said while stocks last!

I got mine ok 2 weeks ago

Just got off the phone to my dealer and it comes in conjunction with the Riding Modes Pro option, so not standard fitment on the base model, I have ordered the Adventure te, so comes as standard.
BMW R 1200 GS.
As of model year 2016, the R 1200 GS will not just be available in new paint finishes. With a view to enhanced motorcycling safety, the range of special equipment features is extended to include the banking-optimised ABS Pro and the dynamic brake light (in conjunction with the Riding Modes Pro option).
