Thinking of changing. Help!

I have now been made an offer against a Yamaha FJR1300AE.
I know these are starting to get a bit long in the tooth, but they do look like quite a handy tool.
Going to test ride one as soon as I get back, but any views in the meantime?
Cheers

Have you tried the Honda ST1300 ? also long in the tooth but still an excellent bike.

LOl are you real? Your on a BMW Forum, in a BMW RT section and your asking our opinion on a load of old Japanese tosh! Must be a wind up.....

Trophy, nuff said.
Pan, lardy, boring, but lots of folks love them and the "weave" appears to be a myth.
GTR14, pre 2015 has well publicised low speed issues, apparently goes too slow and then tears off like a scared jackass when you apply a bit more throttle. Scary on mountain hairpins. Still more sports than tourer I think.
FJR, just feels like a heavy lump of mettle with dated technology (if u not buying new). Another bike I sat on and just didn't even want to start up. But loads of folks like them.
Guzzi Norge, tidy bike but a bit limited. I was tempted but new I wouldn't keep it for long.

But, you need to ride them all and make your own mind up.

Have to say that I've been on more than one forum where people give honest opinions - they don't just spout crap about other makes and models because they've bought a BMW.
Yes they are very good, but they aren't cheap to buy or run - that's one of the reasons that other marques exist. I was simply asking for others genuine opinions based on fact not bigotry.
I have now tried both the TT and FJR and agree that I prefer my present RT to both, so if a decent deal turns up I will probably go for it.
Thanks for your comments.

I've had two ST1300's and done about 68,000 miles on them over about 5 years. But although they are excellent bikes they are pretty boring machines. I also tried a TT for an afternoon, I found it a BIG bike even after the ST1300 but could not gel with it. I tried the GT1400 but it was also a big bike and too fast for me.
So I tried an RT for a day and I loved it and after nearly 2 years I still do. My only other Beemer was a new (2001) R1100SS which I also loved but was a nightmare to own and after breaking down 7 times in 16 months gave it up as a bad job.
To date, after 11,000 miles on my 2013 RT and fully expecting problems and breakdowns at any moment, (but only needing a new battery replaced under warranty) I now (almost) trust it, but when I get out on it I always have a smile on my face. It really is a great bike and I'm really glad I got one against my (then) better judgement.
As to warranty issues ? time will tell.

Hey steady on lad, just because i have ridden both the FJR and the triumph bikes and didn't rate them does not in any way make me a bigot! So wind your fecking neck in.

I test rode an RT today and thought it was excellent. All I need is to find somewhere that will offer a bit of discount on bike, extras and future servicing. Wishful thinking? I was certainly left with that impression by my local dealer.

Loved the Hill Start Control and Gear Assist Pro. Great gizmos that I can see making a big difference.

Things have changed a bit since I placed the order for my bike in August/September last year.

I am often in the north west, so got the dealer there and my soft southern dealer to 'compete' discounted on sale and extra on trade in, but not much on free service.

The first 600 mile service was more than a 20,000 mile service on my truck!!!

Smile from ear to ear each time I ride the new bike, which is priceless.

:)

My dealer said first service was about £120?
Is this not going to be the case in the real world ?

Just wanted to say thanks for all the comments guys - I have decided to go with the WC RT - probably in early June, just after my Western Isles tour.
Not looking for new, but as good as I can get for a reasonable exchange.
