Thinking of swapping the XR for a GS !!

1300gs lights useless..did I read above?
Got headlight pro on mine. Tested on the A68 at three in the morning and I would rate them as superb, I have had very good ones to compare them to, including a bike with additional spots fitted.
Suggest saving your money and getting eyes done if finding a problem with them.

Learnt my lesson when I brought a Z1000SX without a test ride.
Like you I lucked in when I sold it the loss was acceptable. Never made the same mistake again although I took a 1300 for a 3 hour test ride in reality I’d decided I was buying it within 2 miles, spent the next 100 trying to talk myself out of it 😂😂

What the fuck is headlight pro ? Do the base bikes come with headlight amateur? 🤔
Headlight pro is an optional, see the difference. Hope it helps 😁

Seems like BMW money making bullshit to me . They fit an adequate headlight but then offer you a better one for extra . Bit like they fit a crap seat on a bike costing over £20k then expect you to fork out for a ‘comfort seat ‘ that should be fitted as standard .
But most manufacturers do that too . It’s not so bad on a £5k bike but is taking the piss on one costing four times that .

Exactly

Well the fekking joy of it all
Collected the bike Saturday, rode the 183 miles home perfect, went out on Sunday and once again all ok however the sign came up saying the remote key had 50% left so I bought a new battery and fitted it all ok.
got it out to go to work today and within 100 feet ABS warning, tyre pressure warning, Active suspension inactive, collision warning inactive, active damping fault, etc etc
got to work turned the bike off, restarted it to put it in my parking spot, no warnings !! I thought it had a brain fart and it was ok
left work and guess what, they all came back on but even more, got home called the dealer and had a bit of a pop as you would expect £18K and in 2 days its shit its self, called BMW Assist who was here within 20 mins and 4hrs later its got a faulty suspension control unit O the joy !! they are coming to get it tomorrow its going back to the dealer in Grimsby to be sorted then delivered back to me once fixed, or ive told them ill have the XR back and the money
stay tuned !!

Oh no that’s bad news…..but not surprising for me.

IMHO reject it. My first 1300 issues started with warnings the first time I took it out, had all sorts of problems, abandoned it in France due to it breaking down, got it back and it broke down again all in six months. Rejected and replaced. Error on my behalf.

I have its replacement a year and have had active suspension and battery issues from new. At the 6k service they replaced the battery, suspension pump and both shocks and I rode it 18 miles home. Took it out weekend before last and got lots of never seen warnings and experienced limp mode. So dealers have now fitted new throttle bodies and have the bike for continued testing so I enjoyed riding my faultless K100RS last weekend!

Genuinely if I wasn’t into this GS to the value I am I would be away to another bike or brand. Seems to be too many people having problems with these IMHO.

Hope you get sorted to your satisfaction.

Barry

To be fair, you did warn him and correctly so

New BMW's aren't worth a shite (I was eyeing up a nice used R12 G/S today and thinking about it, but stories like this really put you off new BMW's)

I have been considering s1000xr, tiger 1200, Africa twin adv sports DCT es, 1390 super adventure.

Barry
The latest Tiger looks nice and I bet the 1390 with AMT is fabulous . The bikes mags certainly rate it over the GS with ASA. Plus it’s got a 4 year warranty and won’t pack up in week one . And it’s a fair bit cheaper .And more power . Power is everything . I read it here. 😜
