Thought I would do a r1150 gs rallye as BMW forgot to do one

Looking good.:thumb I'm enjoying following this, and am impressed at the speed you work.:beerjug:

I don't mean to be critical but that's a very silver , silver if you get what I mean ? Maybe some narrow tape around the head gasket joint would have helped the finish ?
Nice project though :thumb2

When I get the front end done I will be looking at taking the heads off painting them at the same time give it a major service including replacing the outer gaskets, just picked up a nice sump guard in black so may paint that tomorrow

I finished early today, this morning got the exhaust fitted also the engine bars, it took three hours to clean the front wheel then fitted it so the bike is back on its own legs again,,, I mean wheels,,,,, the back wheel is just as dirty, but i can only do one a day as this is not my fav job especially when it's not my dirt.

seats coming tomorrow, cylinder heads off next week will send them to be shot blast and painted replace the outer gaskets,

I think next week I can also fit the front beak I need two pair of fuel connectors before I can fit the tank,

I've got another full week of work so I'll see what I can manage to get done.

I'll load other photos later tonight.

I've taken the photos with my iphone 5 so hope the pictures a bit better

This week has been crazy with work but today I managed to slip away late afternoon
Taken cam covers off, sent to have painted, new outer gaskets turned up, put beak on, installed autocom, ran electrics for heated seats mounted on the front, ran cables in for gamin sat nav installed new quick release fuel connectors as my model didn't have them fitted, fitted the tank, stripped the two seats ready for the electric heat elements and new seat covers, some of the graphics have turned up, the guy will be coming the weekend to mop the tank and plastics,

Any photos will be posted when the bike is finished, hoping next weekend ,,,,:clap,',,,

Looking good & looking forward to the pics of the final product! A couple of questions:
1. What make is the crash bar?
2. how much was it to get the tank cleaned up and re-painted? (got rust inside mine and want to get it sorted...)

It's a Hepco and Becker (sp?) set of bars.

No idea what this particular tank cost to spray, but I got a sensible quote of £80 all in to do an ADV tank recently.....that's including prep work but delivered to them off the bike and dry.

EDIT.......if it's rusty inside, you may well (will be in fact) looking at more.......it needs treating inside and sealing.....no idea on that :nenau

H&B bars have a bar that goes around the valve covers and mount on the footpeg mounting. I'm not sure what crash bars these are but fairly certain they're not H&B. OEM BMW maybe? Nice build BTW.

Great work. If my 1150GSA hasn't been a Special Edition, I would have done a similar transformation, except that I would have been inspired by Gaston Rahier's Paris-Dakar. White and orange ;-) And you bet the only electronic I would have kept would have been the engine management. ;-) That ABS pump is heavy and located quite high.

Not sure about crash bars came with the bike,

The tank well it depends, I had mine resealed inside I done that with a two parter, then I had the bottom where the street grime gets textured with a thick paint then painted the same as the rest of the tank. I would work on about £120

Had a mad few weeks with bad tenants, so not a lot done, cylinder heads came back today, graphics all here, all service parts here,
The seat I ordered went walkabout so waiting on that then a good two days will see it done
