Thought I would do a r1150 gs rallye as BMW forgot to do one

If you keep the 1100GS and make it a project, then go beyond just cosmetics. Try losing as much weight as you can. Make it a real adventure bike with motocross front fork, higher travel rear suspension. Ditch as much of the electronics as you can. Remove anything unnecessary.

After thinking what I will do as to weather I was going to do another gs, I decided I've done one at this point didn't have the interest to do another.

After some bad customer service at coopers bmw in the past I was thinking of ordering a BMW GS adventure, but at another dealer, I called in to coopers I had a look at what they had on offer,

I walked out of coopers with a new 2013 GSA the oil cooled, it was one of the last models to come out of BMW as the new models are out new year, I could have waited till then but at this time I wanted the (old model).

The guy who I spoke too (Will) was really very helpful so I went back and bought it from coopers with all the trick bits and some clothes.

Two years ago I said to myself I would not spend another penny in there, how things change.

At the moment I've locked it away in the workshop till the weather changes march more than likely, I've ordered 1 ltr of acf-50 so it will not see day lite till it turns up,
Looking forward to running it in, think it may be the Irish run in May

My old tank looks good there. Don't think I did a bad job for my first tank. I'll have to pick up the airbrushed again and do abit more. Like your 1150 by the way.

What Irish run in May is that ??

Nice job , gets a thumbs up from me also, though I do agree with others, black seat looks better. My immediate reaction when seeing the white seat was that I personally wouldn't be happy with the lettering. The spacing between the two 1's, R1150 (R1 150) is a mile apart compared to the spacing on the beak. It may not seem much it hit me immediately, but hey, it's not my bike.

Nice job all the same. :thumb2

I look forward to your RR on Russia!

Mmmm, you may have removed something quite essential :D

very nice , a damn good job you have done there sir :rob:thumb2

I wholly agree; really enjoyed reading this thread, and christ you've put some hard work in, bloody well done :clap....hope you enjoy it & your Russia trip.... :thumby:

Nice job :thumb2
I always thought Rallye meant a stripped down version of the original design. But I see BMWs 1200 Rallye model is just a colour change.

Nico Bakker offers that for the 1150GS. The rear subframe is made for aluminum, and the backbone is designed for a regular fork. Gorgious. That's what I think should be on a Rallye 1150GS from BMW. ;-)

That Nico Baker looks the bollox ! (thats a good thing) Remember someone having an 1100GS for sale on ebay UK a few years ago with a KTM front end, then he went and spoilt it by fitting a Yam TDM fairing

What a beautiful job you've done! Interesting number plate, same letters and just a few digits later than mine :thumb2

Mick.

livin' the dream

Great job, fantastic looking bike. The black seat compliments it best I think.

Out on the bike this weekend with hutchy from here and a lad called tony off the TRF heading around the dales on the road great day riding untill we were taking a sweeping bend straight into black ice, my back end came round and then gripped sling shot me off the bike into a ditch, bike rolled its in a bad way rear frames bent the head has cracked crash bars took a good hit but saved the bike from anymore damage to the engine, screen broke handle bar bent some other things as well, will look at the bike tomorrow,
My helmet took a good impact and it's had it, my bike jacket and trousers has some scuffs, I suffered from whiplash, my back is in agony, I had the bike recovered and said good bye to hutchy and tony, when I get home I found out that hutchy on the way home had hit more ice and he came off his 1200gs he wasn't as lucky, the air ambulance had to lift him to hospital he has five cracked ribs his bike was in a ditch a farmer put hutchys bike in the barn to be recovered on Monday,
