Thoughts on buying a 'keeper' 1150GSA

ABS or not

I have abs for more than 12 years,on three different 1150.There is no way back, for me,to a non-abs..By the way,the ADV have steel-brake-hose,,so u stil have brake,if the servo is dead..

But which colour do you choose? I have a black 02, wish it was silver, but blue and white just looks so good!

Twin spark Graphitane, stealth biking at its best. Fastest as well because it doesn't attract attention.

Half a day to remove the servo-ABS and save about 7kgs at the same time.

Three stick coils in 90,000 miles but the FD has had three new big bearings, one new taper and one input bearing & seal etc. Needed attention 4 times overall. The bike has had a hard life though.

I have had a servo fail on my Adventure. And just in case you are not sure . . . . You only have "residual braking" left when the servo fails. Residual braking is not enough to get you out of trouble at speed. But just to clarify, I still have a servo on my adventure.

If you fancy an 1150 GS as a keeper why not just go for the "standard" GS? - what's the fuss with the Adventure

the main difference is the Adv's have even more bling and irrelevant extra's bolted on - which increases the weight.

1. Because you will always wish you have an adventure with a big tank.
2. What bling and irrelevant extras?

Yea,you are right,,but compere to a RT,u stil have brakes..

Both bikes are much the same - and the "best" features of one can be easily fitted to the other if required (mostly!)
There are some crackin' low mileage mint 1150GS's come up for sale now and again for what seems quite reasonable money?

Cheers.....................Grizzly:beerjug:

Thanks for that contribution

Most welcome and apposite

One for touring, set up for long distance travel two up, and t'other for hooning and green laning?

Or to put it another way...why not :nenau

Good enough reason for me :thumb

Depends on how many miles you do. My next GS will be a big tank GSA. At the moment I'm at the petrol station every three days. A 30 litre tank GSA would extend that to every four days.

Fair enough, particularly if it synchronizes your fill ups with the shift pattern of the cute cashier...
