Well test rode a ktm 990adv today with a view to changing old faithful. First impressions was that the 990 is super light compared to the 1150... Road it and loved the ride although the brakes on the bike and the headstock needed some tlc.....

But..... Having returned to the dealer for a bit of bartering I left with nowt but disgust.. £1500px on my GS.

Now although bertha is on a Vplate and has 88k on the clock, loads of relevant farkles, enhancements as most of us have the best they could do was £1500 'we shall sell it as spares and repairs'...WTF.

The red mist came down... And I said that bike is in better cosmetic condition than the 990 and you want 5.5k for it... Get to feck....

I was expecting at least an offer of £1800 less the majority of the farkles...but no.... So I left having said they clearly dont want my business and I'll keep the GS and having ridden it home once again the itch was scratched and the better bike won...a little give maybe

i apprexiate dealers have to make a bit of money but to be honest im finding my search for a newer replacement difficult as dealer prices are much inflated and the bikes arent in the best of nick....

So it looks like shes a keeper maybe time to strip her down and give her a refresh.....

Am I just being picky or is this just the draw of these bikes?

Sell the GS and get more for it, then buy the 990?

Very subjective as to what's the better bike, but I know what I'd do. :D

There seems to be many ‘Keepers’ on eBay at the moment. I bought mine in 2003 and it still does me good.
It’s the 1200 model that seems to get thrown back at the dealers as people want to buy the new TFT creation.

If you have the space, selling or px’ing a bike you like for such a small return is not worth it.

I have seen that 990 and it's not one of the best and overpriced
Not surprised as the dealer wants top dollar and then throws you a low ball for the p.x
Stick with what you have instead

I knew you would know JB... The panels and luggage rack needed some tlc which I wouldnt have minded but a little give and take would have been appreciated... But alas no... I didnt deal with AW directly when it came to the deal....

Their loss, but they don't seem too hungry at present.............maybe sell every bike they can get

He has alot in stock... alot....

I got a good deal on my v7 but doing a bit of research they are generally about a grand over on their used bikes...

Try selling your bike on here first and then looking for a new bike.
