Had a bit of a wobble when I saw the pics of the new bike ... dribble, gibber, yesyesyes ...but in the cold light of day, to upgrade from my 02 1150 to a new 1200 GSA with all the goodies would probably cost my bike + £6k.

For that money I could upgrade my already well equiped bike to a ridiculous level of Touratechery and go RTW with still enough change for a packet of chips on the way home from the pictures.

I've just washed my bike down after a trip to the North of England, its come up like new (well, er, 'newish') and is running like a well oiled, well running thing.

So whilst I would love a brand new GSA I can't really justify it ... my present bike is just too damn good ... having said that I've not seen it in the flesh yet.

Not a bad perdicament for us to be in tho ... I can think of worse

Happy Gser :thumb

02 1150 = 5 – 6K. Don’t bother with the options add 3.5K and the jobs a good ‘un. Now tell the Mrs:D

I think I prefer the 1150 (sorry, it could just be denial!), I'm not keen on all the plastic on the new one... but I really like those panniers and top box! Wonder if they'd fit the 1150?

What do I still, er, 'need'

Ohlins or such like ... £800 ... actually I don't need this at all:
Corbin thing ... £500 ... hmmm, looks a bit Harleyesque :ymca , I like me £20 sheepskin as a true Welshman
Autocom etc ... £250 ... actually I go out on my bike to escape people, not to talk with 'em
Big box panniers ... picking these up next week anyway

... er, can't think of much else unless I go into blue tooth 'phone style farces, and I shan't be doing that.

Blimey I shall save a shedload if I do nothing :thumb

Must admit I agree with retro but in a different way I have GS12 04 goes well and am happy with it. But I would like some of the new bikes bits i.e the tank beak saddle and those black spokes, for me to change suppose i would be looking at my bike plus say 3K to get a bike with is to fecking tall for me and not my choice of colour. And those crash bars and topbox are hideous..

Glad I have twelve months to think about it... :D

I love it and if I ddin't have a 12GS I'd buy it. But I won't be trading in a perfect bike on another one when I can just buy the pieces to make mine better. The tank, crash bars, and rear luggage rack, and I'll wait for the WP shocks to come onto Ebay when someone feels they aren't up to snuff. :D

I only got my 1200 3 months ago, and it does everything I need. On a recent trip to Ireland, it was running as much as 220 miles before the low fuel warning countdown would start ( this was 2 up with luggage too). And that mileage was way beyond the capacity of SWMBO, so having an extra 13 litres in the tank wouldn't be much use to me for my usage.

It might be worth looking at in a few years when I am ready to change my current 1200, but at differential of £1000, I have my doubts as to whether or not it would be worth the difference. Still, I'll reserve proper judgement until I have seen one in the flesh and had a proper test ride.

I am going to the nec on sunday as i need to see this bike for real .This wont go down well, but i love the alloy wheels over the spoked wheels which i hate cleaning .so even if i did have one i would change the wheels :hide
