thread border router

anyone know anything about this? I have a number of smart radiator valves but recently I wanted to add one and each time I tried it said cannot connect as my network needs to have a thread border router. Very strange as I already have a number of the valves up connected via thread system and running. Rather than go into it on here appreciate a DM on the subject. It has to do with the Tado X system

Already a bit further than that. Have 2 of these already set up and running. Both working with the12 other thermostaat valves. Adding the last one is what is causing me problems

Had a quick look for you, and is your new valve close to both bridges?
It seems that in certain cases the Tado valves cant connect due to conflicts between the bridges. You might need to put a tin foil reflector behind the valve to force it to link up with a certain bridge

For the avoidance of doubt, are you trying to add a third border router, or having trouble adding the last valve to the Thread network?

Yup - next question was going to be about range!

A bit of trial and error with repositioning the existing bridges might be all that's needed.

Adding the last valve to the thread network. Ive tried setting the valve up right next to the border router. Even tried to reboot same. Adding a new router might help but not sure.

Next question, have you got the Thread network connecting to your main home internet, or have you connected it to it's own VLAN (or guest network)?

It's generally good practice to set up a separate IoT network and have it broadcast only on the 2.4GHz band.

The other question that springs to mind is compatibility. From your original post I'm assuming the old valves were also Tado X (rather than Tado V2 / V3) - stupid question perhaps but the X isn't compatible with earlier versions.

Ah! Some searching revealed that you had already tried a number of things and it answers some of my questions above

Interesting to note

I already have 12 devices linked via 2 bridges (big house 4 floors) all working
I rebooted by router
I removed and added the app again
I set the router to 2.4 only
I followed the unplugging of the bridge X for 30 mins and reset the device including removing it from the app
each time i add it a new number comes up - I am up to number 60 already !!!
i reset the network on my iPhone
my router is linked to a netgear orbi mesh system which i recently set up and had to reset up all the individual Tado devices but all worked fine
This issue has only been a problem in past week and i have tried everything. Thinking of dumping the whole Tado system and switching to Honeywell.
It cannot be that there is a software issue here. Welcome any advice

Here's another stupid question, do you have tons of other IoT devices at home or is it just the valves?
