I just looked in the workshop manual and it states:
"Adjust idle speed by turning the air bypass screws...."

Aren't the big brass screws the air bypass screws? If not which ones are they?

I'll just have to reset the TPS adjustment back to 0.310v and start all over again...

Trust me don't use settings between 0.410v - 0.370v these are for the 1100GS and they don't work on the 1150gs trust me!!!! Been seen done!!!!

Ok, then what are the voltages for the 1150GS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Like I said....

.......I think .370 - .390 is the suggested range.....

...but some people set it as high as 0.4v. I tried this and the bike ran badly so I have mine set at 0.385v.

This is my simple u tube manometer

Snap ! :thumb :D

Actually I do know the answer to this one (I was able to work with a friendly dealer mechanic to work it out). I just wanted to make sure that nothing has changed

For the R1150GS, the TPS voltages should be between 0.32 - 0.40 V, with the optimum of 0.36 V

I actually wrote up a paper on how to Set your TPS (pdf)

Interesting - instructions that I'd read elsewhere (more than one version) quoted the range as .37 - .39.

I'll try a lower value today as I'm still not happy with the way the bike runs - there's a 'step' in the power delivery around the point that I'd imagine the TPS ceases to have an effect on fuelling and the mapping takes over, and below that point the pickup is a bit erratic. I'd previously only experimented in the range 0.37 - 0.4 - now I've got a whole other half a volt to play with :thumb

I finally set mine at 0.310v it has stopped the puffing / hase of smoke at startup better fuel economy and slightly stronger engine braking. However I would feel happier using 0.320 or slightly more upto 0.340 but no more. Could be wrong, but at the minute the bike runs well.

ps. got my settings from the adrider web site, just do a search using ("TPS")

Any updates would be glad to here them.

I'm reliably informed that the manual states a range between .37 and .39v but I couldn't find the reference myself. Anyway, I set mine to 0.36 yesterday as suggested by Guzzler (previously .385) and it's transformed the bike - far smoother at small throttle openings and it's made my other half's (pillion) ride to work far more comfortable - she even commented on it. I may try it slightly lower but I don't think it's likely to improve much more - it's close to perfect now and I tend to be super-critical of the way the bike runs.

TPS settings

Bike runs well on 0.310v setting, but a little lean, the plugs are grey rather than tan. Changing settings to 0.320v this week, will post results.

Voltage reading taken after operating throttle full open and allowed to snap closed twice. (0.340V)
