I have fitted a throttle lock from Jaws Motorcycles.

It is s very simple mechanical device which replaces the bar end:

Turning the adjuster should apply friction and lock the throttle.

However, even when un turned and backed right off, I cannot turn the throttle!!!

The bar end needs to be tight enough to prevent handgard rotation.

It is advertised as 'a direct replacement for the standard bar end on all the 1200 GS's and the Adventure model'

What am I doing wrong? Anyone else had this problem ? Should I send it back ?
:D

Stick a washer between the bar end and the bar to space it out. I had to do the opposite with mine and turn a bit off so I could get it tight enough.

I had to use a washer on mine....
Which leads to one of two conclusions

a/ the stop in the bar is at varying depths on different bikes
or
b/Jaws can't use a ruler!!

I tend to think the former is more likely, the quality and finish of the throttle lock is pretty impressive.

Perhaps Jaws could respond on this?:nenau

2 lessons learned the hard way

Did you use thread lock on the big bolt? Mine fell out and tinkled back down the road along with the original alloy countersunk washer. Took me a while to find replacements. The throttle lock can't work with tank tape holding the flapping hand guard in place :)

Keep it well lubed. I didn't and it seized up during last winter. Dis-similar metals don't like each other. Strong grips couldn't shift it but eventually a few sharp taps with a wee hammer shook it free. Messed it up a bit though.

Working ok again now.
