Throttle not shutting off fully.

Yea surprising.

They cannot offer a loan bike on this occasion either.
Which means the wife will have to follow me down in her car, to drop off and again the day after to pick up, a 25 mile trip each way.
so that's 100 miles my wife has to do just for my bike service.

To be fair to the wife she hasn't commented or complained, but that's not the point.
I'm 27 miles to mine (BMW Alton)

they don't have any public transport anywhere near them but thankfully a loan bike (mine goes in next weekend)

Its only because I am in warranty that I still go...so we shall see

But thats shocking that they can't do MOTs

Qualified bike MOT testers are a bit thin on the ground lately. My local bike MOT tester retired two years ago, the garage can’t justify the expense of paying for the service/calibration of the bike MOT equipment. I now use one of two other bike MOT places instead, both a ten minute ride away.

OK bit of an update.

Still waiting to get the bike sorted, but still riding into work.
even though it sometimes revs to 4k for no reason running you into the vehicle in front... clutch is key lol

Coming home its gone into limp mode or something, no throttle.
100% throttle is about 3k but the power builds up slowly

The engine management light came on, but after the bike being switched off for 30 mins i went back out and pressed the start button and the engine management light has gone

so my high revs on initial start has got worse 😒

Ooooh, Can I have your wife please?

I know the need to use the bike is pressing but I am becoming concerned for your welfare in using it in this condition.
WIthout using a diagnostic device we are all guessing...
My guess is that you have an intermittant short somewhere, most likely in a joint or similar which is in the process of breaking down and creating "ghost" signals.
Sounds as if it would be safer (and cheaper) to find a mate who has a 9-11 or just buy one, and get a few mates around.
Just my pennywort, based on nothing much.

I wouldn't ride it until fixed.
That reads like it's going to kill you.

Wife is running me to work tomorrow.
The bikes poorly lol

Only a yellow warning but it's likely to turn red at the furthest point from home lol

If you have warranty. Oem or extended, ring em up and get someone out asap,

It wont fix itself. And it will be sorted in a couple of days

Extended warranty ran out last year and I didn't renew.... oh how I have laughed 🙄

I rang 2 garages and both didnt sound interested.
I started the call with i need an MOT and Service.... excitement... then added but there is something wrong with it too, that needs dealing with...... silence.

"Oh i will need to get the mechanic to ring you back"

Both took my phone number and never called back.

Yesterday i ordered the GS-911wifi with OBD-II Connector (Enthusiast), i will get a reading and fix it myself, sick of waiting on garages.
If i had one last week i could have fixed it already.

I did strip the left side of the bike looking for something obvious such as cable not in the bowden box properly.
I undid the Barkbuster hand guards just to see it that freed thing up... no joy so far.
Its likely a part that's failed, hopefully the 911 will point me in the right direction.

Mate these fly by wire bikes cannot be fixed like that any more

You just replace the part, in this case the unit. My GSA had the same issue and they just replaced

Hey Barnoe, it may be worth checking this, just in case it is a poor connection

Well the GS911 arrived and i plugged it in and waited for the scan....
expecting "Hey pal, your throttle sensor is fecked.... buy one quick on Motorworks"

Instead i got

If you’re online with the GS 911 when connected to the bike, click on the fault code and it should take you to the Hex web forum. If there are any posts relating to the fault code, it will list them for you to browse.

So

Your zorst flap is stuck (more than likley open)

your throttle grip assy is fubarred

Your suspension may be fubarred ( one or the other shock)

You have a possible failing TPS unit

Ker & Ching :(

Zorst flap stuck (if open ) so what -leave as is

Throttle grip assy - there is no fix other than a new assy

Suspension - Denzo on this forum can rebuild for fractions over a new unit

TPS - does it throw an error?? if not leave

Could’ve told you second post in that your girl assembly was fubar’d.
Just replace it. Period. It’s a known issue.
You might get goodwill with BMW as it is a known issue.
Same with the headers as the exhaust is another known issue. Goodwill on that is you pay for the labour only - £150-80.00.
Go with the exhaust headers and then the throttle assembly and you’ll get much further.
Also -

I made a booking with Williams BMW for the service and did mention this issue.

As they was making me wait so long i tried to get another garage to do the work sooner, It seems they are not interested.

So i will likely get a hefty bill from BMW, its booked in for the 17th
I will print the error codes off so they know what to expect and plead poverty lol

Think i will need to be sat down when they ring with the price 💰😩
Think i will leave the tyre sensor for now and do that when i change the tyre, currently it has plenty of tread on

The exhaust flap you will get done under goodwill. Already told you that. It’s a known issue and all
Dealers carry stock of them.
If you’re having issues with William’s then go to Bowkers. After the amount of complaints about William’s on here I wouldn’t go near them out of principle.
Talk to Richard Rawlings at Bowkers and you may well be able to get the labour element of the throttle assembly tacked onto the headers as well. As you can show full service history the goodwill should sail through.

Mine had to have the exhaust headers replaced as I had the same issues as you (cleaning and greasing etc did not work)

Also I had to have the Throttle replaced (that was within a month of ownership)

And now its in today having its big service and needs the entire rear suspension replaced

Thank fuck I have warranty as its £1400 for the part alone on the rear suspension

2019 GSA with just short of 12k on the clock....
