on the Throttle Body - been told that if you adjust the tickover type scews at all, then the TB's need to be returned to the factory to be re-set? Is this true?
I service both our 1150's, my DR-Z & my girlfriends DR350 & have a fair idea of spannering experience.
Can't remember why but last June I adjusted the equivalent of the tickover screws on the both throttle bodies of my g/f's 1150. I think I'd made a mistake when replacing her tank but not the usual "cable not seated" error but bike still ran crap?
Anyway, once I'd realised my mistake, I slackened off both cable adjusters, balanced the TB's using the tickover screws and a Morgan Carbtune, then final adjustment using the brass airscrews before adjusting the cables themselves @ 3,000rpm. Bike's ran fine ever since, fuel economy is as good as it ever was, no surging and has since required another service already due to the mileage.
The tickover on my 1150 has always been a little high (1,300 to 1,450rpm), I've tried adjusting it out using the brass airscrews but only succeeded in leaning the mixture right out. I'm thinking of slackening the cables, backing off the tickover screws & then balancing the TB's as normal - anyone know of a reason why this should not attempted?
Note that I was only told about not touching the tickover screws until after I'd adjusted those on my g/f's bike.
Thanks in advance
Steve
