Time for a new project

Finally got round to collecting the frame and other parts from the powder coaters this morning so have just spent a few hours cleaning threads, fitting new head bearings and have made a start on putting it back together.

One of the nice things about taking them down this far is getting the opportunity to replace all the old rubbers and mounts.

I'll be following this thread with interest :thumb2

I've just picked up an '83 RS with 45k on the clock. I was planning to use that as the basis for a project of sorts. Have ridden it for a bit over the last few days and I'm starting to think I may prefer to restore it to it's former glory (not that that isn't a project, just different to what I originally had in mind)

Be nice to see another one being restored. Don't forget to post pictures.

The engines back in mine now :)

Just about finished the fettling today.

New discs and hoses yesterday, just need some nice weather now:(

Ah, the lure of the Airhead is strong in this one, use the forks Gert!!!! :rob

Methinks the Storm had an influence all those weeks ago, still waiting for pictures of the new toy and I don't mean that Italian filly you have added to the stable either :D

A bit more work today and it's looking like a bike again :)

Has anybody got a set of clocks and the clock mounting bracket for an RS?

More bits tracked down and fitted today. There's parts all over the place, lots missing, some in poor shape as well as parts from other bikes in the storage boxes.

Funny how the paint looks really good on the photographs.

Couple of piccies of mine as promised.

Still can't get the seat lock undone  Not turning the full 90 degrees, depite ample coaxing with WD40 et al. Probably a stuck tumbler or something. Anybody got any ideas as to how I can get the seat up before I resort to more "percusive" means of persuasion :augie

Have you jiggled it, wiggled it from side to side? :augie

Oh BTW, I know you well enough and where you store the bikes, but for the rest of the collective you might want to explain the location and in paticular the ballet bar and full length mirror! :ymca

Oh yeah, stick up a pic of your new toy, it will get some in here all moist :pullface

jiggled and wiggled :thumb2 Hinges on the right side are good, it's literally the lock barrel that doesn't seem to want to go all the way. I'll have another play tomorrow.

Ah, the new toy. Yes, the italian filly. For those wondering what Roger was referring to, I took over my beloved's ballet space to house my bikes under the guise of me doing more biking than she was doing ballet these days. And the safe in the picture is empty by the way :D
