Time for a new project

Oi!! I'm glad you two are having a nice chin wag but this is supposed to be an RS thread.

There is enough hot air spouted in here at the moment...:D

Some nice RS's in here:thumb2

Rob, contact Thunder, he has an exhaust for your bike...you'll love it :hide

A box of goodies arrived today so it was back in with the swinging arm. I've decided to fit a later, stronger swing arm but that's going to need a little non reversible modification to the frame. But it does mean the bike will handle better and get the drive shaft with the shock absorber in.

I still reckon a very dark tint screen would look good... :augie

I'll look into that when the time comes.

Wrestled the tyres on tonight. Thought I'd give Conti Go's a try for a change.

Pity about the ding in the silencer :( It'll do till I can track another down.

Shocks are bolloxed as well :tears

We must be due an update here soon....He's probably rebult a couple more in the meantime..

C'mon Rob whats the crack? We're all waiting..:D:bounce1:bounce1

Nothing much to report Rich. Loads of parts tracked down and lots of unseen parts done; drive shaft fitted, rear brake all working, later switchgear wired in. It took 3 hours to strip and de gunk the fuel taps. The main stand mounting bolt threads were dodgy so I've fitted oversize bolts after drilling and threading the frame.

The right hand downpipe fouls the oil cooler thermostat so that's a pain in the arse.

Fortunately the rear shocks are working again obviously they didn't like laying on their side during the trip from Ireland.

It's looking good Rob. Does it really need painting? It looks fine in the pictures. I like the front brake discs!

New disks needed Rich and the front ends coming out again for a repaint.

For some strange reason the paint looks good on photographs. Not so good when you see it close up.

Took mine out for a spin today after Rob reset the pre-load on the front wheel bearing and I had the tyre changed.

Result the front end feels totally different, no sign of the twitchiness or head shake.

Thanks Rob

P.S. All the parts refitted to the GS aswell and they look great. :thumb2

Can you really adjust the front wheel bearings on these? Or do you mean steering head bearings?

Most earlier air heads have shim adjusted wheel bearings.. Shims are more like wedding rings in reality.. I'd never heard of it either until I built up the R90/6 front end that is in my bitza.
