A BIG thank you to both of you for today. Tim for spending many hours fixing my bike and steptoe for the advice. Bearings changed and sorted, servo problem still to be found.

Thanks guys:kissy2

Ive been in this dilemma for awhile now but at present the servo is still working perfectly and i like the way the bike feels. If it is on its way out then thats disicion made, gets taken out:confused:

What symtoms are you having with the servo??
I had an intermittent problem and traced it to overcharging, changed the rect/reg brush unit and problem has gone..... that was 10 mnths ago.

cheers,
Paddy

The symptoms are the servo starting to come on without the brake levers being touched (you can hear it) and staying on but the brakes are still working fine:confused:

Had a problem last year with a faulty micro switch on the front brake lever.

yes i suspect it's just a faulty switch or brake light connection even though they appear to work ok:thumb2

what's the problem with the servo? I could do a search:blast

I settled down to an evenings search through pages of servo problems ages ago but the symptoms are unusual.

Sounds like a dodgy switch or the actuator relay on the servo it'self.
Disconnect the front brake switch and check if it still operates by it'self. If it still does check the rear by doing same. If it STILL comes on then it's def the relay on the servo unit. It may be possible to change this. I would still check what voltage the alternator is pushing out. Use a max peak meter and blip the throttle a few times and check if the voltage is returning a higher peak after a few times. Mine use to creep up and when it hit 14.35 the ABS servo started to do strange things also.
May be worth a try,
cheers,
Paddy

Thanks all for help and info but im limited in what i know. Im reading about all you've suggested and will have a go at them this weekend. Ill let you know how i get on.

i've already suggested this on the phone. But thanks anyway. :thumb

Is it worth dismantling the brakes, cleaning everything out and putting back together again? A bit of dirt/muck/dust affecting the contacts?

I tried it after speaking with you Neil but the problem is intermitent and I ran out of time so I've showed Tina how to make these checks:thumb

Hmm from memory the breaking of the switch contact starts the motors spinning and then the variation on the hydraulic pressure is the variation on servo assistance power

Any sign of nipped or damged brake switch leads as contacts are permanent current flow then cut the current to switch on

Dodgy switch or water in a switch?

Sorry If I'm a pain but those newer systems are much much friendlier than the abortions that came after ABS II

Says he that had one with integral lock the front wheel at 40 mph due to excessive servo action (unit replaced by BMW)

Used the bike for work today, spare key ready to unlock the seat and get at the connection without turning bike off, was on at a junction so turned and pulled into a safe place.........had stopped and not done it again since:blast. The bike knows we're on to something!!!!!!!!
