Ok, i have a Givi screen on a 1150gs and recently got these tobinator things. I feel like i've tried every possible screen position but don't feel like i've found that mythical 'sweet spot' people talk about. I'm 6'2" and use the seats high position by the way.

I still have the original screen so may try the tobinators with that to see if its the Givi screen thats at fault.

Any top tips appreciated!

Stick with it, coz once you,ve found the g spot :mmmm its a diffrent world :thumb

Took me a while on my 1150, but that was with oem screen,
Now going through the same process since changing to a GSA  but definatly worth it :thumb

Try tilting the screen back further than you think looks sensible, you may be pleasantly surprised.

If you are that tall in the upper body, and have the seat high, you may not get it without a taller screen.

I have positioned the standard screen on my 1150GS with tobinators so that the top of the screen is pointing directly towards me at 180 degrees, i.e the screen is parallel with the ground. There is still a gap between the screen and the top of the cockpit.

In this position I can ride comfortably at 50 mph with no earplugs and comfortably at 80 mph (and probably more but haven't tried it for any length of time) with earplugs.

There is still wind noise but buffeting is massively reduced - even eliminated.

The tobinators look a bit tortured in this position but it most definitely works for me; I was on the point of giving up as this position is so far from the starting position recommended by Andrew Tobin.

The screen is not completely tight in this position and you can adjust it on the move! In this way I have found that the "sweet spot" is within a range of approx 4 cms measured at the flip up top. The bars come up against the screen at full lock, but the screen "gives" sufficiently for it not to matter.

After clumping a few trees at the Herts wombat hunt I had bent the tobinators out of alignment. I have since straightened them but I lost my sweet spot.

I am nearly there again and it is a matter of trial and error

Still.... shouldn't be such a crap offroader should I... :D

Jon :)

The givi screen i have is approx 10cm higher than the standard screen and is slightly wider. I was setting the front most tobinator in either the highest or lowest setting, leaving the screen in the middle setting (out of the three available positions) and leaving the rear tobinator just loose enough that i could adjust the screen angle whilst riding (easier than it sounds). Despite that, i feel like i've tried nearly every combination. When i think i've got it, it doesn't seem as good when i go in the other direction, ie opposite wind direction!

If any tall folk who've successfully managed to get their 'sweet spot', please give a rough indication of your settings- cheers

Not sure that's not the way it is - certainly is for me - perfect sometimes, not others, depending on wind direction and strength, etc etc.

As a rough guide, I am looking just over the top of the screen looking straight ahead, through it by about an inch if I'm looking over the top of the dash. Front Binator is 1/2, both set vertical. Seen them all ways though, and the set up with my big screen is very different from the std one.
