I met Grizzly at Blairgowrie this morning and we had a run up to Glenshee before cutting over by Glen Isla and having a run around some great wee B class and unclassified roads among the Angus Glens.

Grizzly knew of this magnificent stately home which has been allowed to fall into terrible disrepair. A real shame. In it's former glory it must have been quite something...

The place is quite literally falling apart

We then headed over and did the loop around Glen Prosen.

Sometimes progress was slower than at other times...

It's a lovely part of the country and one that is seldom heard about when people list great biking roads and areas in Scotland. There's even a wee ford...

We stopped off at Kirriemuir for a coffee and found out that the town was busier than usual as it was hosting a Bon Scott Memorial weekend. Apparently loads to Irish folk were over.

I'm going to have an Angus Glens run at the Clans weekend as an alternative for those who don't fancy the longer run. I now just need to find a volunteer who knows the area to lead it...

We had bit of everything weather wise but it was a great wee run and one that I'll definately be doing again soon.

Thanks to Grizzly for his "local knowledge" and the company :thumb2

For God's sake dinnae let SWMBO see that hoose. She's got a thing aboot haein a hoose wi "turrets"......

Nice pics R, ... wouldn't it be nice to see some of the old Scottish Stately homes like this one restored again, even by the National Trust.

Just image renting one out for a GSer weekend :beerjug:

Angus Glens

Gents and Fellow Tossers.

The "big hoose" is Balintore Castle, now owned by Angus Council, as the previous owner, a Cloggie, let it get into a real state of disrepair.

On Sunday, 3rd June, I'm taking the annual Glens Run round, would you believe, the Angus glens. I'll be "doing" glens Esk, Lethnot, Clova (lunch at Clova Hotel), Prosen and Isla (part of). The wee ford above (at Kinwhirrie) will, as always, be included, as will a run past Balintore. There's even the chance of a run along the top of the dam at the Backwater Reservoir (not many dams you can ride over). The run finishes in the bustling metropolis of Alyth and starts at Stracathro Services, A90, 9:30am-ish.

You're welcome to come along and experience the beauty of the Glens. You don't even have to ride a GS, as this is a BMW Club calendar event. (I've got a foot in both camps)

I wish I knew you were heading out as I was at a loose end today. The wind was blowing a gale in Aberdeen so I went into towwn and stuffed myself with Tapas.

I'm at the BMW course next weekend and that ford would have been some nice training for it;)

Nice pics by the way:thumb

My disallowed pic (:blast) for the 'stately gs' photo comp was taken at Balintore Castle. A real shame it been left to get in that condition.
