OK,
finally after a week after picking up the GS with history, i got her out on the road.
Ignoring the clunks and rattles (that a fellow GS owner has said is normal lol) it was quite an
interesting run.
With the lowered seat, i can get one foot down easliy, which give me no end of confidence, so
slowing and balancing on the throttle / clutch is now not a problem, as i can get a dab down if needs
be.
Issues still seen .
Smell of petrol -
Still get the odd whif of petrol. Its not from the filler, but appears to be from the
two bleed pipes the run down near the starter.
I've traced these back the the large fitting on the RH side of the tank. I'm guessing there vent
hoses for the tank. Cant see or smell any other petrol fumes anywhere else.
Starting when hot ..
Started no problem today x3, but still not sure its right. when is starts when warm, the battery
symbol pops up on the display, but goes out immediately, but every now and then the check engine
symbol pops up too.
Poping on overrun
Occasionally when coming down through the box it pops and barks on the overun.
not sure if its normal or related to one of the above.
Battery
I popped the battery straight on charge when i got back ...
The optimate went straight to de sulphate and has been sitting there since...
(brand new battery btw)
I've checked the voltage 16v (de sulphate) so dropped it off charge and left it on the bench ..
It's reading 14.5V and dropping slowly ..
I'll see what it reads in the morning
(i have a feeling my optimate may be a little fubed)
I need to find someone local with a GS911 who can run the diagnostics for me.
