Can anyone lend me a gearbox output flange puller?
I really need to get this job sorted ASAP.

You can borrow this flange adapter I made if you dont get the offer of a better tool. you will need a good 3 legged puller to pull pull it off

I used one of these on my flange adapter http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0039UPS...de=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B0039UPSGO

I used a 3" braker bar on it and had to use a scarey amount of force to pop the output flange off. A hydraulic one would probably be safer LOL like this one

Far better to use the propper tool if you can get it

I made up a heavy steel plate that is bolted to the flange. This is threaded to accept my enormous Sykes Hydraulic puller (cost about £300 and comes in a steel box - it weighs about 20 Kilos ).

I do it up until the plate starts to bend, then give the plate a sharp radial dunt with a hammer. That usually springs it free .

The 'proper tool' would be nice .

I followed JWinn's advice last year and found their tool hire facility to be very good, it was a delight to have all the proper tools for the job. IIRC after paying a £25 deposit the loan was free apart from the postage. They also provided very good technical advice.
