Tool tube - where to put it?

I found this thread, but since my R1150GSA has Hepco and Becker panniers, the rails are quite different and I don't have the same mounting points.

Also, attaching the tool tube to the rear crossbar under the licence plate doesn't seem right to me. That seems a little too "out there". Both on an exposed level and more chance of it coming off over bumpy roads.

Anyone else got other possible solutions?

Thats where mine is. So any good ideas would be welcome.

Not my 1150 obviously but fixed mine here on the KTM if it helps:)

I made an aluminium plate and mounted that to inside of H&B pannier frames, then mounted tube to that, opposite side to exhaust. Works well and not that noticable.

That is a perfect location, unused, out of the way, unlikely to be damaged and won't attract too much attention from a casual observer.:thumb2

Mine on a 1200 GSA

there is a 6mm threaded hole on that side of the subframe doing nothing.Use it for the forward mount for a piece of aluminum box and a "p" clamp on the pannier frame at the rear, then mount your TUBE to that, works a treat.

Garage shelf, like most of them:thumb

Garage? Some people have all the luxuries.

I'm pretty sure this is going to come in more handy than sitting on a shelf somewhere. Can these tubes fit in a few little bottles of whiskey to get me through Mauritania and Mali?

Thanks for the suggestions all, i've got something to work with now.

The downside on this tube is that it can't be locked.

So any thieving toe rag can get at it.

If the internal diameter >80mm and the internal length greater than 318mm it will hold an entire standard cork mouth bottle of fine single malt Scotch:)

I put mine in FS&W on here :D

Nowhere to put it on an 1100 that didn't look ridiculous although they seem to work well on 1200 GSA's where they'll tuck in behind the right hand pannier rails.

Mines on an 1100 as per my previous pic :D
