Top box Adapter Plate

My local dealers quote of £1750 for a full set of electric luggage ("that is the deal!") is eye-watering.
I was pleased to be able to get my feet on the ground when sat astride the adaptive height lowering model.
Why give dealers like that your business, you can buy from anywhere and get service /warranty work done at any dealership. My 1250 came from Sunderland and had all of its service and warranty work in West Yorkshire, I could have also had it done at the Lincolnshire dealer, if I’d chosen.
My 1300 deal included getting the panniers for £500.
I’m quite happy to travel, there are 4 dealers within 75 miles of home.

That’s my position too, I’m hoping / expecting GIVI produces a plate to sit on top of the standard rack my TB TE will come with. That was how it was with my 1250.
The standard bike comes with w plastic grab handle and luggage rack and no electrics for the BMW Topbox. If you opt for the £200 rear luggage with electrics it becomes metal. It is my understanding from looking at all the available options (some not yet available to purchase) that you either get the GIVI plate BUT that will only fit the metal £200 BMW plate or you remove the BMW grab rails etc and fit the Touratech, SW-Motech, Givi total replacement systems.

In the fullness of time, I am sure someone will do an adapter plate to attach your Givi et all to the Plastic Grab handles but I suspect it won't be one of the usual suspects as it isn't strong enough to support the weight and loads of a top box.

There is a BMW aluminium rack (as found on the triple black, but not standard on the trophy) that doesn’t fit the top case.
I wonder if the Givi rack will fit on this, or if they will make an adaptor kit for those who don’t buy the BMW central locking BMW plate…. Do hope so.
otherwise I wonder if the wonderful cymarc of this Parrish would design an adaptor.

I suspect Givi will at some point do all the bits necessary.

Being a bit thick I am confused. I have a 1300 Triple Black coming. I visited North Oxford earlier today and looked at how a TB comes std.

So do we think Givi will be offering a mounting plate to suit what the bike comes with, or do I need to buy the extortion BMW plate or the SW Motech plate plus gibbons to get a Givi Outback alloy top box to fit ?

Looks like this is what you guys will need SR5143

Plate arrived today so I fitted it tonight, didn’t take any fitting pics as it’s just 4 screws, a few spacers and a spot of blue thread locker :nenau

The finish is nice with a sort of brushed look black anodizing, not that it matters as my top box stays on permanently

Looks good. Is the black part of your rack metal? I thought my one would be the same excl the silver ‘x’ part.

yes the whole rack is aluminium

the silver bit floats about, apparently to stop you getting a tank slapper when you’re piss balling through Mexico like Kevin Schwantz on coke bnige

Hi stick

Here’s the instructions, you can see the original screws have a shoulder so Givi supply 4 small spacers to stop the plastic pads getting crushed and 4 bigger spacers to raise the plate slightly, you could get away with a few washers for the small spacers

Leadfarmer, thankyou for that , it’s very useful as have a few ideas , just need the plate and a top box , hope for delivery in a week or so . Thanks again .

SR5143 (GIVI complete rack replacement) still not available or a price published, however my dealer has agreed to pay for one when they become available.
As said in one of my comments above, my dealer advised against specifying the BMW carrier if I was fitting my GIVI top box.
I agreed with this as I was convinced the rack on the Triple Black was metal, not plastic.
It’s clear now, as @leadfarmer has shown that the BMW carrier gets a SRA5143 top plate. If you haven’t picked the carrier in the configuration then you need a complete replacement rack (SR5143)
At least it’s not costing me anything, though I wonder why it isn’t available yet when the plate is, unless anyone knows differently.

Just read through this, the bmw parts for a rear rack are nearly £500 so not an option.

I bought a bmw rear bag from here in two minds on the looks and flexibility.

Am i right in thinking there is a givi part for my bike? Alternatively any other suggestions on aftermarket luggage for the rack area.
