Top box Adapter Plate

@Smartbazza what are the part numbers for the solution that you have. Rack and plate (assuming it’s for Trekker or Dolomiti ? )

Was it easy to mount. Any need to disturb or modify any of the original bits including the original pannier side plates and doughnuts ?

the plate is M8B (black) and the arms are SR5143. Purchased from Carpimoto for Euro216 which is bargain.

The kit fits on the existing mounts very easily in about 30minutes. I have a Givi Outback Trekker.

Barry,

Do you mind if I ask if you have the larger 58 litre or smaller 42 litre ? I like the idea of the extra space but would like opinions on whether it is too wide .

Thanks in advance 👍

Not the best shots as not out side , better than the SW motech one , just clean the back end up , plus no plastic lunch box

I realise this is an old post, but what’s the pillion seat replacement you have? I’m looking for one for my R1300GS that’s on order, but can only really find the BMW OEM one that looks like this. Since my bike will be a Triple Black I like the look of yours.

I’d say it’s the OEM painted black or powder coated

I fitted the Kappa badged version of the Givi badged SR5143. It looks the same. The 58 litre Givi aluminium box doesn’t look out of place. As others have said, the rack screws directly onto the BMW rack. I found the Kappa in stock at Branded Biker. They were excellent. Apparently, the Givi badged rack will arrive in UK February ish.

I'm seeing various adapter plates mounted on the 1300 top box mount using the 4 small screws. There's one early in this thread, the wonderlitch 1250 adapter plate and the vari-upter 1250 adapter plate. They all use these small screws which are only designed to hold the plastic face peices to the alu mount. The 1300 cases hook under the aluminum part which is securely mounted with much larger bolts. These 4 screws could never be relied on to secure a topcase. How do these companys think this is ok?

design? the bolts are largely unstressed suffering a little tension in use.

if you look at the rear mounting of a Givi topcase and apply the same logic it will be left on the garage floor when youtake off!!

Of course I'm applying this logic to the Givi. The size of that box in post #30, filled to the max, hitting serious road bumps or heavy crosswinds. Mounting it to simple panel fastening points. Probably won't fall off but this is absolute minimum engineering
