Top six modifiations

In order of importance.

This or sites like it. Take the info gained do more research and if poss ride a mates bike if they have what you want.

ROX adjustable risers. Always put comfort first, a relaxed rider is safer, smoother therefore faster.

Wunderlich ergo screen extension. As above.

Full AKRA system. It's not about power it's about smooth. Cleans up the fuelling ,now it's 2000rpm 5th through town in dynamic, easy.

Tyres, if you don't go off road don't compromise, full road tyre with best wet grip. PR4's next Roadsmart 2's.

Fenda extender. Stops a world of pain in the arse crap being thrown all over the engine and then being baked on.

Brilliant timing this thread.

Just traded in my Fatboy for a new GS so reading this with interest!

1. ACF50 for winterising-mine is one of the good/solid 2005 models
2. Satnag - invaluable as it gets you back on route after a detour on a road that looks fun
3. TT or other screen extender
4. Bluetooth either for listening to music/instructions(don't bother myself)/chatting to buddies
5. Kahedo comfort seat
6. Some kind of protection against the car park drop!!

I have a new GSA so lots of bits are standard- crash bars, sat nav mounting, running lights etc etc. Better pegs than GS etc- doesnt really need anything else.

The major thing I would recommend though is a cameltoe sidestand foot, not just for soft earth but to get on and off the thing, makes it so stable.

Coming from sports bikes you simply dont need better seat, higher screen etc .

ACF50 is good though.

For anything else just save your money for long tours and tyres.

Its all down to personal choice, imo if youre tall and/or doing big miles a wunderlich ergo screen extension is a godsend and helps prevent fatigue kicking in.

If you dont invest in a crudcatcher or front mudguard extension the front of your engine will get stone chipped badly. Experience also tells me a rear mudsling saves time cleaning the rear shock after a ride.

For me a couple of hundred or so well spent when youve spent upwards of £13k.

. . on a bike with paint that is water soluble :-(

+1 for the Wunderlich screen extension. Shocking price but tremendously effective. The only downside is that it keeps the wind off you to such an extent that it's necessary to lean out into the slipstream if you wish to clear rain from the inside of your visor - as you will if you have a BMW helmet :-( - and in hot, i.e. continental European, weather the lack of draught can make things very hot :-) But it's easy to adjust or remove. FYI I did not need to remove it when taking the GSA on the DB Autozug but did do so to reduce the windloading on the screen mounts.

Had mine a couple of months now and the first things added;-
1. Hepco & Becker engine bars (black)
2. Front fender extender
3. Fuzeblock switchable fuse panel
4. Starcom digital intercom (already had off old bike)
5. Navigator 5 Sat nav (replaced my TomTom rider 5)
6. Power Bronze taller screen & deflector under screen (obtained from bike show)
Sure many other items will be added next year , will have to see what Santa brings , left a big list and a few catalogues open at pages with big rings round certain items
Unfortunatley me being over 50 years old :rob Santa seems to take A hell of a lot more than he leaves

NAV V
Upper and lower crash bars
Barback/riser
Wider/Lower pedals
Adjustable Gear Lever
Tankbag

What's the best rider foot peg lowerer/ wider for a 1200 GSA? been messing with my Sargent saddle position but pretty sure I need this.

crash bars , gsap , pivot pegz , remus hexacone slip on

Where did you get your remus hexacone slip on & how much? I think they're nicer than the Akrapovic upgrade!

Depends what your into.....

Offroading an 1150 means engine protection, renthall bars and risers, 21 front wheels, agressive tyres, plastic tank off 1100, higher front mudguard.

So a bit different to a tourers top 6.

Whatever floats your boat!

Tnx, M
